Split is a simple program that allows the user to transfer large files (eg. MPEGs or Replays) between computers on floppy discs, even if the file size is larger than the disc. It does this by splitting the file up into disc-sized chunks, which another copy of Split can jin up at the other end. The size of the 'chunks' can be set, for 800K and 1.6Mb discs (or any other format you want to use).

An added bonus of this program (and the reason why it takes up so much disc space for such a simple program (c.300kb archived)) is that it comes with a large resource of excecuteables for other platforms - in effect !Split for the PC, and other operating systems. This enables people like me to transfer large files downloaded from the Internet to my Acorn by using Split at both ends, and the DOS version on the PC. This really is a brilliant feature.
