This is almost certainly the best fractal generator available for Acorn computers, with far more feature than I could ever describe here. Well-nigh all the main fractal functions are represented in this program, and its massive range of functions allows the user to tailor the display to an amazing degree. It also acts as a platform for fractal programers to add their own routines.

The user interface, beyond actually selecting the fractal required, is somewhat cryptic, and it places the main tools in an extremely cryptic pane window, which I would suggest inexperienced users avoid at all costs, since these fuctions can (thank God) be accessed via the menu system.

Scripts are supplied to demonstrate the power of the package, and obviously you can write your own.

As far as speed is concerned, my ARM 2 groaned, and so did I as I waited for some fractals to be processd. An ARM 3 and/or an FPA chip will speed things up dramatically, and on a 233 Mhz Strong ARM RISC PC with 10 Mb of RAM and 2 Mb VRAM, I should imagine that this package would be truly amazing. It is faster than Fractint on an equivalent speed PC (of course!).

As Aliquid Novi II will be themed on fractals, we will be running a more thorough review of !Fractal in the next issue, being as it is the best on the market.
