You Don't Fool Me Released 18/11/96
-----------------------------------

A postcard was mail from the fanclub to members, to inform
everyone of UK release 'You Don't Fool Me' on the 18th
November 1996.

This lilac (and slightly metallic-ink effect) card measures
148.5mm x 210mm (A5 size) the front has the Queen Crest and
the word 'Queen' below it and 'You Don't Fool Me' above. The
reverse contains information about the different release
formats, which are CD, Cassette, and numbered coloured 12"
vinyl.

Also mentioned is the 'Made In Heaven - The Films' video,
(released 11th November) plus details of the Freddie Mercury
Photographic Exhibition at the Albert Hall in London. It ran
from November 22nd until 11th December 1996 (then touring
major cities of the world - Ed).

And finally Virgin Radio 'Queen Day' gven a plug - scheduled
for 22nd November 1996 with some fantastic prizes.

The release itself came in a similar lilac metallic cover on
all 3 formats as above, with the following tracks for each
release:

Whatever Happened To Saturday Night
-----------------------------------
A new recording of the cult 'The Rocky Horror Show' has been
released on CD with Anita Dobson guesting on 3 tracks, and
Brian as special guest on just one - 'Whatever Happened To
Saturday Night' on which he sings and plays guitar along
with Spike Edney on Keyboards, and Shelly Preston on backing
vocals with the National Symphony Orchestra in there too!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Brian's Solo Album
------------------
It's rumoured that Brian's album won't now be released until
September and is to be called either 'Our Business' or ,
'Hard Business' the later being the song previewed at the
Convention this year in Prestatyn.

'Hard Business', as some of you will be aware was the theme
tune to the UK TV series 'Frank Stubbs Promotes' a couple of
years ago, and with this in mind it is possible Brian has
decided to put all his recent non-album recording onto an
album in one place. Tracks which could be included are below
with an indication of their original release:

Hard Business (F.Stubbs Promotes - 1st series theme tune)
On My Way Up (F.Stubbs Promotes - 2nd series theme tune)
FBI (Twang - Tribute To Hank Marvin)
All The Way From Memphis (Moth Poet Hotel - Mott Tribute)
Whatever Happened To Saturday Night? (Rocky Horror Show
Il Colosso (Pinochio Soundtrack)
What Are We Made Of? (Pinochio Soundtrack)
One Rainy Wish (Jimi Hendrix Tribute)
Cyborg (Rise Of The Robots II)
Whistle Down The Wind (Lloyd Webber/Steinman musical)

Not all of these may appear for various reasons, but it
would be interesting to have some of them on one side of a
new album, with totally new songs on the other.
--------------------------------------------------------------

John is back in the studio!
---------------------------
Increible as it may seem, John is actually working on some
new songs in his home studio. However he is producing for
his son Micheal's band Baker, in which the youny Deaky plays
keyboards.

The autumn issue of the fan club magazine does mention that
he has remixed Freddie's 'There Must Be More To Life Than
This'. When/if it will see the light of day is another
matter.
--------------------------------------------------------------

The Freddie Mercury Photographic exhibition.
--------------------------------------------
As mentioned in the last issue this exhibition is touring
the world, but will be back in the UK in about two years.
You can however buy copies of exhibition programme, posters,
t-shirt and a set of postcards via mail order. Details
below.

The catalogue is full colour and features both,
never-seen-before pictures with others we know and love.
There are 3 small Polaroid photos taken by Freddie's parents
of the chalet area in Montreaux which became the theme of
the 'Made In Heaven' artwork. What makes these pictures so
interesting is that judging from Freddies clothes, these
were taken in the early eighties (by his parent). The chalet
is apparently called 'The Duck House'.

Dance Traxx
------------
Well we were warned it was about to happen, and nothing
could stop it. I honestly wonder just what dance fans make
of remixes like this. Sometimes I don't see the point,
although I have enjoyed a select few in the past, ie Seven
Seas Of Rhye (from the Hollywood re-release), and Mr Bad Guy
(from The Freddie Mercury Album), but on the whole I
personally don't feel other peoples remixes work, and they
are usually compared unfaourably with the original. Anyway
you make your own mind up. At some point each and everyone
of the track from this album are to be released as singles,
in fact some already have!

01. Another one Bites The Dust - Captain Jack
02. The Invisible Man - Scatman John
03. A Kind Of Magic - Mr. President
04. I Want It All - Ex-It
05. Under Preasure - Culture Beat
06. I Was Born To Love You - Worlds Apart
07. I Want To Break Free - Masterboy
08. Bicycle Race - Blossom
09. Bohemian Rhapsody - Magic Affair
10. Who Wants To Live Forever - E-rotic
11. Flash's Theme - U96
12. Radio Ga Ga - Dj. Bobo
13. Scandal - Voice
14. We Will Rock You - Interactive

Dragon Attack - A Tribute To Queen
----------------------------------
Revolver Music / DeRock Records
Tribute 83270 1:1:2

Featuring:
Glen Hughes (ex early Deep Purple)
Yngwie Malsteem
Ted Nugent
Bob Kulick
Marty Friedman
Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart Band)
John Petruchi
Rudy Saizo
Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt)
Jake E Lee
Robin McAuley (Grand Prix / McAuley Shenker Group)
Lemmy (Motorhead)
Robby Kreiger
Scott Ian
John Bush
Tommy Aldridge

This surprise CD release came in both a silver metal tin
case or the normal jewel case, with many of the tracks being
very close to the originals, and executed very well. In fact
some are sometimes so close to the originals it makes you
wonder why they did the cover version and not use any
artistic license. Not all the artists are well know, whereas
others are. The track-listing is typical so I won't bore you
with it.

A concert planned to recreate all the 'Dragon Attack' tracks
with original artist is in the pineline but I have no date
or venue, except early summer in Germany.

Passing Open Windows
--------------------
Yet another orchestral album of Queen music has been
released - 'Passing Open Windows'. However it's produced by
David Palmer who once played with Jethro Tull (UK Folk Rock
group). Unusually it does not include the obvious, ie no
'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Radio Ga Ga', or 'Another One Bites
The Dust', although you can hear phrases of these and other
songs throughout the album in other pieces. Take it or leave
it. I did. A concert performance of the album by the BBC
Concert Orchestra took place at The Royal Festival Hall on
April 20th (Convention weekend!) If anyone went them please
send a review for inclusion in the next issue.

01. Prelude - Fanfare/Tie Your Mother Down
02. Bicycle Race
03. Somebody To Love
04. Killer Queen
05. Who wants to Live Forever
06. Interlude - Death On Two Legs
07. Now I'm here
08. Innuendo
09. Love Of My Life
10. Keep Passing The Open Windows
11. We Are The Champions
12. Postlude - In Memorian....FM-MP

---------------------------------------------------------------
Caballe & Friends - Friends for Life.
-------------------------------------

I've only just discovered this album and haven't actually
heard it yet, but here is the track-listing and the people
she duates with.

1 - Bohemian Rhapsody (Caballe & Bruce Dickinson)
2 - March With Me (Caballe & Vangelis)
3 - Visions Of Glory (Caballe & Johnny Logan)
4 - Ci Vorebbe Il Mare (Caballe & Marco Masini)
5 - Chanter Pour Ceux...(Caballe &Johnny Hollyday)

13 - Love Is The Key (Caballe & Die Prinzen)
14 - Like A Dream (Caballe & Vangelis)
15 - Put The Weight/Shoulders (Caballe & Gino Vannelli)
16 - Barcelona (Caballe & Freddie Mercury)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Bohemian Rhapsody - The Briads
------------------------------
This totally new version of the classic song is from the
film 'High School High'. It's available on CD, Cassette, and
12" vinyl on Big Beat Records (7567-95640-2).

It is performed in a rap/reggae style and seems to have
ignored one important aspect of the piece, and that is that
the song is divided into three distinct/important sections,
done to emphasize the drama of the song. This version is
absolute rubbish. In fact there are 3 or 4 crap versions on
the CD. What are these people playing at? It certainly isn't
creative. your dog probabley howls better noises. Don't buy
it!
------------------------------------------------------------------

Delayed Releases
----------------
The planned 'Queen at the BBC' release is now reported to
have slipped until the autumn. It now seems certain that the
release will include all six sets of BBC sessions recorded
by Queen, and therefore it will be a double-CD release.

NB.
This 'Queen At The BBC' release is not the same as the
American release of the same name, released in 1995.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Queen En Espaol
------------------
The Queen tribute album 'Queen En Espaol' (a Spanish
language album by Latin American artists) should have been
released in the USA on March 4th, but seems to have slipped
yet again. No new release date is known.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Ga Ga Video
-----------
Some of you may have heard of the possiblity of Ga Ga (cover
band) releasing a video of their live show, but due to
unforseen "exessive" copyright charges which they would have
had to pay for performing Queen songs, it was decided not to
release the video after all.

Considering Ga Ga had linked up with 'Elite Video
Productions', who had advertised the video, it must have got
past being just an idea, and no doubt a bootleg version may
well be out there. Let QFN know if you have a copy.

However the band are to release a CD of live material from
various 1996 shows. They are also planning an album of
purley original material to be released late 1997.
