Magazine Round-Up QFN-22
==========================================================================

Record Collector - June 1996

The Information Station section of the collectors magazines
illustrates 3 of Queen's summer releases.

The rarist is the Japanese only 'The Greatest History - The
Show Must Go On'a non-commercial compilation featuring 17
singles, (a Greastest Hits surely). The CD was compiled with
a view to issuing it commercially although this has been
vetoed. The cover features the artwork from the band's final
album with the stamp-type logo and the crest inside. The
track listing is nothing unusual for a Greatest Hits package
although it does feature 'Heaven For Everyone' as the
opening track, and includes the Japanese language favourite
'Teo Torriatte'. However, this very rare album is valued at
an amazing 300.

Two new Promos mentioned are both for 'You Don't Fool Me'
which was released around the world commercially as a 4
track CD (but not in the UK - not yet anyway). The first
promo is a 2 track picture CD with the single edit, and the
album version, and valued at 20. The second promo is a 4
track remix 12", (valued at 18) and limited to just 3000.
There is no mention of the artist anywhere on the plain
white label, and is no doubt aimed at club DJ's worldwide.

Just a couple of other Queen-related snippets in this issue
of Record Collector, with the first being a review of a
re-release (1000 on vinyl) of the Left Handed Marriage first
album (from 1957) called 'On The Right Side Of The Left
Handed Marriage'. The Queen connection for anyone who
doesn't know, is that Brian and Left Handed Marriage member
Bill Richards both played in Brian's first band '1984'
whilst still at school. The album in question does not
feature Brian. Enquiries to the Record Company with SAE/IRC
- Tenth Planet, 48 Armadale Road, Woking, Surrey GU21 3LB -
UK.

Finally in this issue of RC are details about an exhibition
of early 1970's, (especially Glam) clothes and memorbillia,
with the star attraction being a Freddie Mercury jump-suit
valued at 5000. The exhibition took place at Essex
University from April 30th to May 24th

Record Collector - July 1996

The Information Station page list a single-track CD promo of
'Let Me Live' valued at 20, and comfirms that 'You Don't
Fool Me' (a recent European Top 5) will be issued in the UK
in the Autumn.

Also in this issue is 6-page interview / discography with
Cozy Powell who as we all know sat behind the drums for
Brian on his recent album and tours .

Cozy (real name - Colin) tells us that while he was playing
with Black Sabbath he did the 'Comic Relief' single 'The
Stonk' with Neil Murray, Tony Iommi, Rowan Atkinson and of
course Brian May, although they had played together when
Brian guested on the Black Sabbath album 'Headless Cross' in
1989, although apparently Brian and Cozy have been friends
since the early 970's when Brian would go to watch The Jeff
Beck band when Cozy played with him. When asked who he would
like to play with again out of the many many bands he's
played with he said Brian, but we'll have to see if he, and
indeed and of the original members of the Brian May Band
will be playing and touring with Brian's next band which we
should see in 1997.

Record Collector - August 1996

The Information Station page list a single-track Hollywood
promo CD of 'Heaven For Everyone', and values it at 10.
Apparently Queen have released more promos than anyone this
year, with seven in as many months.
