Made In Heaven - The Final Album!

As some of you will already know the date has now been
officially set for the long-awaited final Queen album. It
will be called 'Made In Heaven' and be released on the 6th
of November 1995 accompanied by a new long-form video
(this is Jacky Smith's description, although what a "new
long-form video" is, I'm not yet sure.

The first single from the album is to be 'Heaven For
Everyone' (yes, the Cross composition), and released on the
23rd October, though this new version has been remixed and
is played on by the remaining members of Queen. You will be
able to hear the track before this date as radio stations
in the UK will have advance copies on the 9th of Coctober.

Another first for Queen is that jukeboxes around the country
will be supplied with the single on the 9th also, so you
won't have to wait until the 23rd. Get down the pub!

It was rumoured in UK national press that two tracks from
the new album will be titled 'A Winter's Tale' and 'Mother's
Love'. We'll have to wait and see if they are accurate or
not. There are a total of 11 tracks in all. The album will
be released on vinyl at Brian's insistance! It will also be
on coloured vinyl - blue and gold.

STOP PRESS!
===========
The full 11 track listing is:

It's A Beautiful Day
Made In Heaven
Let Me Live
Mother Love
My Life Has been Saved
I Was Born To Love You
Heaven For Everyone (single - 21st Oct)
Too Much Love (Fred on vocal)
You Daon't Fool Me
A Winter's Tale (second single - December)
It's A Beautiful Day (Reprise)

A German TV station previewed 58 minutes of the video
'Phenomena' in late September, and tracks mentioned on it
are as follows:
Piece Of My Heart
Heaven For Everyone
Too Much Love Will Kill You
I'm Dreaming
Mother Earth
Keep The Faith In Us
My Life Has Been Saved (remix)
A Winter's Tale.

Some of the above may have been working titles for the real
tracks.

THE LAUNCH PARTY
================
A launch party organised by the fan club will be held at the
Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday 29th of October this year to
celebrate the release.

Included in the 5 ticket price will be a free official
'Made In Heaven' T-shirt, poster and special tracklist card.

A 'lucky seat' draw will take place at the launch, with the
winner walking away with a signed copy of the special 'Queen
Collectors Box Set', which will be on general sale for
approximately 400 at a later date! See the 'Record
Collector' article later in this issue for more details.

The doors of the Apollo will open at 12 noon, and one hour
later the album will receive its World premiere. There have
been conflicting reports as to which remaining band members
will be present, but it is hoped that all three will be
there with at least one of them as spokesperson introducing
the album tracks etc. The fan club's answer machine messages
first of all mentioned Brian as introducing the album at the
launch, but has since mentioned Roger on at least 3 other
occassions as being the person who will introduce the
premiere and more. We'll have to see.

The album will be played twice during the day, and a
screening of the video 'Champions Of The World' (120
minutes) will also have its' World premiere at this very
special event. Both releases are hoped to be on sale on the
day, but it's not certain. If you can't get to this event,
another video 'Queen - The Phenomenon' (sub-titled 'In The
Lap Of The Gods') will be shown on Channel 4 (UK) in the
first week of December this year. Other fans will have to
wait for it to be broadcast in their country unless they
know someone in the UK who will send them a copy on video
tape. 'Phenomenon' will not be available as a commercial
release to buy.

The above releases are final chapters in Queen's career and
QFN would like to hear what you think of them. Reviews will
appear in the next issue of this newsletter. I'm sure all
subsequent releases will stir a lot of emotions in fans who
will all be thinking of absent friends.

SPIKES ALL STAR BAND
====================

For those of you who do not know who Spike (Edney) is, let
me expand. Spike played on stage with Queen as rhythm
guitarist on Queen's later tours. (1984/1996). He also was a
permanant member of 'The Cross', who were the touring band
Roger formed in 1987, when Queen (well Freddie) decided not
to tour anymore.

The SAS Band will be playing the previous day at 'The
Orange', so anyone travelling to London can make a weekend
of it. Call 'The Orange' on 0171 371 4317 for more details.
Tickets are 8 each and very limited as the venue is small.

ADVANCE NOTICE.
===============
Advance Notice. Some QFN subscribers were sent details of
the launch party in early September, so if you would like to
receive important news between issues be sure to send an SAE
(or an IRC plus a self-addressed envelope for overseas
subscribers) to the QFN address. Important information which
I feel can't wait until the next issue will be sent to you
as soon as I have it. This will usually be tour dates and
audio/video releases.

The Old Rectory
===============

It was reported in the Daily Express (UK newspaper) in early
September that Brian and Anita had recently moved into The
Old Rectory - Wimbledon, London. It's a listed 'Grade II'
building and was once the home of Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop
of Canterbury, and Catherine Parr also lived there, (no
relation) Henry the VIII's sixth wife (the only one to
outlive the murderous king!)

I'm sure everyone wishes them the best of luck for the
future together.

EMPIRE
======

Empire Publications have produced quite a few Queen prints
by Trevor Horswell over the past few years, though I was
recently notified that the next one planned, named 'Queen
The Band' has now been delayed until Christmas 1995.

A different one is to be published in place of the above.
The new print is called 'Freddie's Heaven' and features a
very photographic image of Freddie in his 'Hard Life'
costume standing on a black and white checked floor with a
backdrop of the earth and stars - similar to something used
in the 'Time' video. The print is a limited edition of 199
copies and cost 58.72. The size is 17 inches x 21 inches.

A set of Freddie postcards are available from Empire,
depicting paintings by Trevor Horswell. The set of 7 cards
costs 6. Cheques payable to Empire Publications. The
quality of the paintings on these postcards varies slightly,
but two are exceptional and well worth the money for the
whole set.

SKY SPORTS
==========
Sky Sports have been advertising in a huge way for the
beginning of the UK football season. As you may know they
show exclusive coverage of the 'Premier League'. In recent
adverts they have been using 'One Vision'. The song is
condensed into about 2 minutes and it sounds quite good. Now
that the football season is under way, they are continuing
to use it to promote forthcoming matches. It goes well with
the pictures they use.

VIDEO UPDATE
============

In the Febuary 1994 issue of QFN I mentioned a 35-minute
video of an RAF 'McDonald Douglas Phantom F4' fighter plane
cut with a Queen soundtrack. I didn't see the video myself,
but I heard it was well done and both the music and imagery
fitted well together to produce a powerful and entertaining
video. The organiser raised at least 3,000 for the Mercury
Trust, so it was a worth while venture for him - Flight
Lieutenant Mark Manwaring.

I have recently been informed that a similar video is being
compiled by a Corporal J.A. Osborough. This video is soley
about the Royal Air Force 'C-130 Hurcules' aircraft with
music by various artists including Queen (The Show Must Go
On) which is played over the final section of the video at
the site of Glen Loch where the crew of 'XV 193' crashed in
1993. The video will last about 45 minutes and features
sections on Air to Air Refuelling, Paratroop drops, Night
Flying using Image Intensifier Goggles, A Low-level flight
through Scotland and a full Tactical Demonstration. All
music has been donated free. Other artists involved include
Genesis, Heart, Phil Collins and Pink Floyd.

The price will be 11 including postage with all profits
going to various charities supported by RAF Lyneham, where
Corporal J.A. Osborough is stationed. Cheques payable to
J.A. Osborough.

If you are interested in a copy of this video it will be
available in a limited number sometime before Christmas
1995. The video would make a great gift for a friend or
family if they're into either Queen or Aircraft. Please
mention QFN when you write. You can reserved a copy of this
video now, and it will be mailed to you as soon as it is
ready.

THE SNOW QUEEN
==============
(News from the Russian Queen Newsletter - The Snow Queen).

Russia's biggest daily newspaper 'Komsomolskaya Pravda'
often puts the lyrics to popular songs in their Sunday
entertainment supplement. One of the latest issues featured
lyrics to 'The Great Pretender', and credited them to
Freddie Mercury! This is because Freddie's video is very
popular and often shown on TV here in Moscow. The song was
actually written by Buck Ram and originally recorded by The
Platters.

On the 6th of March Montserrat Caballe performed in Moscow.
Opera music is not very popular here in Russia, but
Montserrat is. Guess why? Many people asked her to sing
'Barcelona' but she wouldn't.

'Our Fairy Queen' is the title of the first and only Russian
Queen fanzine. It is produced by two devoted fans in the
capital city. It is 40 pages and contains news, reviews and
black and white pictures. A little wonder for Western fans,
and fantastic for ignorant Russian fans who have never even
heard of the official fan club! The first issue was called
'We Will Rock You' but it was changed to avoid confusion
with the Italian fanzine of the same name. Contact: Alex
Smirnov, 13 (2) Shokalsky Proyezd, 113 Moscow, 129 221
Russia. (This fanzine is, as you'd expect, in the Russian
language. - Ed.)

The Snow Queen Quiz
In 1971 T-Rex had a number one hit in the UK with a song
written by Marc Bolan. For some reason in the fade-out Marc
sings a line from another song written and recorded by an
American rock 'n' roll hero.

Some years later Queen recorded a song, and at the end of
it, they too included a line from the same rock 'n' roll
classic.

Name all three songs!

The answer to this quiz will appear in the next issue of QFN
(if I remember). There is no prize. It's just for fun, and
it sure is difficult!

For anyone who doesn't know who 'Ga Ga' are, then please let
me explain. Since, Queen stopped touring, or maybe even
since Freddie died, there have been a lot, er ... no "loads"
of cover/tribute bands springing up around the world.

Ga Ga are the best!

Ga Ga come from Liverpool and are all superb musicians as
well as being huge Queen fans. The band don't dress as Queen,
but make a sound like no other tribute band. They are very,
very professional. See them if you get an opportunity. They
are well-resepected by Queen themselves.

Ga Ga have been granted permission from Jim Beach to release
their version of 'Son And Daughter' on CD along with 'Days
Of Our Lives' plus two original Ga Ga compositions.

The release date is 10th October. The band are also plying
the Convention in 1996 on the Friday night and will be
performing at Liverpool on the Sunday evening, so all you
party goers can carry on Queening, as the following day is a
Bank Holiday Monday. I'll try to get copies for non-UK
members so please inform me if you'd like a copy. The price
of a UK single CD is 3/4. Postage will be about 1
depending where you live, but 5 will cover it and any
credit can be added to your QFN subscritpion.

Whilst I'm mentioning these Ga Ga dates I thought I'd tell
you about a series of concerts being promoted by Ken Cambell
which will all be staged at the above Widnes venue. If you
are interested, call Ken direct on 01928 712035. Tell him
you heard of them through this newsletter.

Other artists on the bill over the next few months are: The
Glitter Band / Sweet / T-Rextacy (tribute band) / Ga Ga
(tribute band)/ Suzi Quatro / Mud / Bay City Rollers / The
Real Thing / Mungo Gerry / The Rubettes / Slade.

I wouldn't call all of these artists 'glam' but that's how
this series of concerts are being promoted, with 'glam'
dress encouraged! Tickets are available direct from the box
office (number above) with certain evenings having not one,
but two of the artists performing on the same bill.
