Official Internation Queen Fan Club News - QFN-18
=============================================================

OIQFC Magazine - Spring 1995

As always for the few of you not in the Fan Club in London,
here are the main points from the above issue.

The front and back cover feature fan's paintings of John, as
submitted for the competition. The front features the over
16's winner Jenn Waitt, and the back cover has Till-Martin
Koster as runner up. The under 16's winner is Nina Davies
and is included inside the magazine. John is the member who
writes a small personal message in the this issue, telling
everyone that the recording the final album is going well
and should be ready by the end of the year. Let's hope so.

Champions of the World.
-----------------------
If you read any of the main music magazines from around the
world you'll probably have seen adverts for a set of seven
hand-printed photographs of Queen bu photographer Ian
Dickenson (only one of which is in colour). The photographs
date from 1974/76 and some are previously unpublished. They
are reproduced in the above issue of the fan club magazine,
so you can see if you think they are worth 129 (to fan club
members). The photograhs are boxed and numbered and only
made to order. If you'd like to contact Ian Dickson (the
photographer) his address is:

Ian Dickson PO Box 2919 London NW3 4BZ

TV/Radio Specials
-----------------
Radio/TV Specials Work has begun on a radio series for Radio
1 in the UK. The producer will be talking to the band and as
many others as possible. The six 1 hour shows will cover
history and as much rare musical material they can get hold
of. Jacky at the fan club invites anyone with any
"different" bootlegs to contact her in turn she will pass on
anything to the producers. Also a one hour TV special called
the 'Queen Phenomena' is being compiled by Rudi Dolezal and
Hannes Rossacher. No release date yet.

'On The Road' book.
--------------------
Gerry was Queen's road manager for many years and he's now
writing a book about the years on the road with Queen with
unseen photos and artwork, and interviews with crew members
and promoters. The design will be by Richard Gray and it
should be in the shops late 1996.

Hollywood Releases
------------------
Hollywood Records have released 'At The Beeb' (March 7th)
and has a different cover to the European version. One taken
at the session for the first album by Douglas Puddifoot.
Also included will be a fold out poster.

Brian on Hendrix album.
-----------------------
Brian has been working with Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix
producer)on a Hendrix tribute album, to be released sometime
this year on 'BGM Records'. The track Brian is involved with
is 'One Rainy Wish' Neil Murray and Cozy Powell also play on
this track too.

Brian has also been working with Sir Andrew LLoyd Webber and
Jim Steinman on a secret guitar session. No more news yet as
it's a "secret"!

Roger's Tour of Italy.
----------------------
Roger's Italian tour was a huge success, and below are the
actual tour dates as they changed from the original ones
announced.

January 1995
16th - Monfalcone Hippodrome
17th - Schio Palazetto
20th - Genova Teatro Verdi
21st - Cesna Vidia
22nd - Firenze Teatro Tenda
24th - Rome Palladium
25th - Palermo Teatro Nazionale La Valetta
26th - Catania Teatro Metropolitan

Roger Live.
-----------
Roger's concert in Truro and the showcase for 'Europe One' in
Paris were filmed, so there is a possibility of a live
release but Roger commented that he "hadn't thought about
it". "I'll think about it, in time..." he said.

Roger Taylor Band Line Up.
--------------------------
A rundown of the members of the Roger Taylor Band then
follows in the fan club mg, but it's too detailed to include
here. Jason Falloon will be releasing a 5 track CD including
the song he sang on Roger's recent tour entitled 'Soul' One
interesting fact about Josh McCrae is that one of his
previous bands was 'Then Jerico'.

Freddie Statue Site.
--------------------
Two sites under consideration for the statue and are;
London's Ealing College where Freddie was a student and
which is 'The Centre for Sexual Health and HIV Studies', and
'London College of Music'.

Freddie Boxed Set.
-----------------
A boxed set of everything Freddie did as a solo artist is
due for a late 1996 release, but it's unclear if this means
audio only or both audio and video releases.

Eddie Howell Interview.
-----------------------
Jacky Smith at the fan club recently met up with Eddie upon
the re-release of 'Man From Manhatten', some of which
appears in the magazine. It expalins how Freddie came to be
involved with the project, or how they would all adjourn to
the local curry house if the mood of the session wasn't
going too well! Up until 18 months ago Warner Brothers owned
the song but Eddie bought it back to release on his own
record label - BUD. There is/was a competition to win the
original one and only gold 'master' CD of 'Man From
Manhatten' by answering a couple of simple questions with
the answers in the interview. It would be nice to reproduce
the whole interview in a later QFN, but I'll have to get the
permission first. If you're reading this bit Jacky, how
about it? I say "this bit", as the fan club gets drafts of
all issues of QFN before publication, but I don't know how
thorough they are read.

Centre Spread.
--------------
The centre pages are filled with photographs from the 1994
Xmas Party (seems a long time ago now!) Anyway Apart from
Cozy Powell, Neil Murray, Cathy Porter being there, as was
Paul Young, Kiki Dee, Mark Shaw,Kevin Gilson, Peter Noone,
Josh McCrae and Spike Edney there was an appearance by that
great old rocker 'Twitty Conway' - this was in fact Brian
May in full disguise as a 50's teddy boy - hair slicked back
and dark glesses too. He looks so different.

And finally... There is a photgraph of Brian as a pirate and
Anita Dobson with a colourful dress and a bowl of fruit on
her head (Carmen Miranda possibly?) This issue ends with
another installment of the 'Collectors' page which lists
various picture discs from the UK and abroad with values.

So all you not in the fan club; this is the sort of stuff
you're missing out on each issue. For more information on
