Editorial - QFN 18 / Summer 1995.
==============================================================

Welcome to issue 18 of the newsletter, the third to appear
as a fully multi-tasking application on the Arcon platform.
QFN will also continuing on paper. Issues 16 and 17 of QFN
are also available on disc.

If you would like to subscribe and get regular issues of
this newsletter, (Winter/Spring/Summer/Autumn), see the
information at the end of this file for details.

Firstly, I would like to encourage any reader to contribute
in whatever form - articles/illustrations etc, and to submit
something for possible inclusion, as QFN is YOUR magazine.
As the name suggest, it's a magazine for fans of Queen and
about those fans, as well as containing news about the
greatest band ever - Queen! So make an effort - no matter
how small and you may well see your work recognised and
published in one of the premier Queen publications - QFN.

Secondly, Thank You if you bought this issue of 'QFN'.
I hope you enjoy it and want to subscribe (if you haven't
already!) If you obtained this issue from a PD library then
3 months sholud have elsapsed since the cover date, which
allows QFN to be distributed as PD. If this is not the case,
then maybe you'd like to tell me how you did get hold of
it!? All replies treated in confidence.

It's "Happy Birthday" time too, as it's 4 years this month
(-ish) since QFN began (August 1991). A lot has happened
since then, some of which I look back on sadly - Freddie's
untimely death and the ulimate demise of Queen as a
recording entity. Though we should have the final Queen
album around Christamas 1995 if rumours are correct, many
will still be in mourning for every day Freddie is gone.

There isn't much "real news" to report this issue - no
releases, solo or otherwise. No tours news from Brian or
Roger, and the silent presence of John is ominous yet again.

Anyway enough of that... I was recently reading an issue of
Acorn User magazine, and a phrase in it struck me as
prophetic. You could, just possible could relate it to Queen
and their very quite period over the past few months, (well
since the last newsletter). Anyway back to the prophecy! The
editor of the newsletter I was reading said that as
everything had been so quite on the Acorn front recently
that this could mean only one thing. That there was about to
be an explosion of activity very soon. Lets hope this is
true for Queen, as we've been waiting patiently (some more
so that others) for the 'Magic Years 4' video, the 'Freddie'
video and the final Queen album to name but three huge
events that can't be far off. So fingers crossed, and keep
youself alive. (That's the first time I've ever said that it
public. Honest!)

As many of you are aware the British magazine 'Record
Collector' reviews newsletter and fanzines such as QFN, and
recently I sent them acopy of the QFN Disc-Mag hoping for a
review, but so far nothing has been mentioned, though QFN
does get a brief mention in the June issue. Does anyone out
there know of any other music fanzines which are disc-based?

Hopefully with the advent of the Internet and that type of
media attention the new QFN computer disc will get a mention
in an issue of Record Collector and the official Fan Club
mag as I sent them amongst others copies recently.

And finally... One very important thing before I forget -
please, please, please remember when subscribing to QFN to
make cheques payable to D.PARR and not QFN. My bank will not
accept cheques to QFN, and it costs me a small fortune in
postage/etc returning cheques which have the wrong payee on
them. Thanks.

So, what have you been up to...?

subscribers (who can get single issues by sending me PD) see
the 'Help' file inside the QFN application. (Hold down SHIFT
and double-click on the QFN icon in the Filer window - NOT
icon bar one. Or use menu over the 'QFN' icon in a filer).

Or read the application 'QFN Soft' which details all Queen
software available from the QFN address. 'QFN Soft' is
located inside the 'Misc' section of this application -
click 'Return To Main Menu' on the 'Contents' page to see
the Misc icon, (once in the application).

No QFN applications are PD, although 'APDL', 'The DataFile'
and 'The Arm Club' have demo versions of all QFN Software,
but it may cost you the same to get a demo as it would to
get the full version current version direct from the QFN
address.

the date of this or other any release, click menu over the
