OIQFC News QFN-17
==========================================================================

As always, for those of you not in the fan club, here's a
round up of the contents in the current issue, (Spring '95).

Well doesn't time fly when you're having fun! The Fan Club
has now been running 21 years. Queen have been going for 25
years and Bohemian Rhapsody was released 20 years ago!.

There will be a combination Freddie Garden party with a Fan
Club 21st anniversary party sometime later this year - an
indoor family event. There also may be a Champagne dinner
ball in a smart hotel at the end of the year - dinner
jackets and smart dress compulsory. Send in an SAE to the
fan club if you'd like more information.

MAGIC YEARS 4
-------------
This video has been postponed yet again! There will be
footage from the 10th Convention on it as The Torpedo Twins
will be at Southport this year (7th/9th May).

QUEEN RADIO SERIES.
-------------------
A radio series is in the pipeline. Six one hour shows will
cover as much history and rare material as the presenter,
Stuart Grundy can get hold of. They have plans to use
out-takes and songs never release commercially - 'Hangman',
'Big Spender', 'Imagine' etc. If you have any good quality
live recordings/bootlegs on CD or Vinyl that you think will
be of interest to others, then send copies to the QFN
address and I'll make sure they get to the producers of the
show.

COMPUTER GAME
-------------
An interactive computer game is being planned around the
life of Queen, though it has been delayed again this time
until April 1996. No reason given.

HOLLYWOOD RECORDS
-----------------
Hollywood Records, owners of Queen's back catalogue for
distribution in the USA have released 'Queen At The Beeb'.
Though the US version has a differnt cover the track listing
is the same. The cover photograph was taken by Douglas
Puddifoot at the time of their first album cover session.
They have also finally released 'The Queen Collection: The
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' which was originally released
in Europe in 1982.

BRIAN
-----
Brian was working up to Christmas on the Spiderman special
for radio. Brian did both the theme music and the incidental
music for it which is available on audio cassette on BBC
Records. Released 7/3/95.

Brian is aslo working with Eddie Kramer (who produced Jimi
Hendrix) on a Hendrix tribute album. Brian was involved on
one track - 'One Rainy Wish'. Both Cozy Powell and Neil
Murry are also on the track. It will be released on the BMG
Records label.

Brian has also worked on a secret guitar session with Sir
Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman ('Bat Out Of Hell'
writer/producer).

ROGER
-----

Rogers recent Italian tour was a massive success. The tour
dates changed at the last minute from earlier one's
published, so the actual dates are as follows:

January
16th Monfalcone Hippodrome
17th Schio Palazetto
18th Genova Teatro Verdi
20th Csesna Vidia
21st Firebze Teatro Tenda
22nd Rome Palladium
24th Malta Teatro National La Valetta
25th Palermo Teatro Metropolitan
26th Catania Teatro Metropolitan

Roger also played a gig in Truro (his home town) and one in
Paris which were filmed for Europe One (satellite TV). There
are no current plans for these films just yet. A live
album/video of the tour is a possibility, but no more than
that at the moment.

The next section in the OIQFC magazine is about the
individual band members from Rogers touring band. They are:

NAME INSTRUMENT PREVIOUS BANDS
Jason Falloon Guitar. - Renegade/The Falloons.
Start Bradley Bass. - Take That/Glitter Band/Junior.
Joshua McCrae Drums. - Cross/Skunk/Then Jerico2
Michael Crossley Keyboards - Wadi Vision/Hush O High

They were asked to fill in typical questionaires and nothing
of too much interest is revealed with the exception of their
previous bands as above.

FREDDIE STATUE
--------------
Possible sites for Freddie's statue under consideraion.
They are: Landon's Ealing College were Freddie was a

BOXED SET.
----------
There is a Freddie boxed set CD in the piepline for possible
release in November 1996 and will contain everything Freddie
released as a solo artist. This is good news as the original
'Mr Bad Guy' on CD is impossible to find or expensive if
located.

EDDIE HOWELL INTERVIEW.
-----------------------
Jacky Smith at the fan club spoke to Eddie Howell recently
about the re-release of the single 'Man From Manhatten'
which Freddie produced, played piano and sang backing vocals
on in 1977. The interview is reproduced in the magazine and
features some interesting snippets of information, most
notably that Warner who were paying for studio time for the
single gave Eddie an 'open cheque book' as this was a time
when Queen had just had released 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
The original single was banned in the Uk as the bassist on
the session was American and didn't have a work permit nor
was he a member of the Musician's Union. 'Man From
Manhatten' was a hit all over Europe though in 1977.
