David Bret Book
---------------
Yet another book about Freddie David Bret is a well-known
author in the show biz arena, who has had a number of
biographies published, (Edith Piaf/Maurice Chevalier/Marlene
Dietrich/ Morrissey) and is researching the life about
Freddie Mercury.

Mr Bret doesn't think that the books currently available
about Freddie and Queen have told the whole story, which he
hopes to rectify. David tells me he has been in touch with
Jacky Smith and Jim Beach who he says will read the drafts
before anything is published.

David Bret recently contacted QFN to ask for assistence by
providing anecdotes, newspaper clippings, etc. After careful
consideration for personal reasonsI declined his offer as I
am none too sure of his conviction, but you may wish to
contact Mr Bret for whatever reason at the address below.

Mercury & Me - Book Review
--------------------------
I know it's rather a while ago but I've just come across
some information that some of you will no doubt find of
interest. I haven't seen it myself, but here goes.

The Guardian newspaper dated 22/10/94 includes a colour
supplement magazine called 'Weekend', and in this section
was an 8 page exclusive feature about the book 'Mercury &
Me' by Jim Hutton. The cover of the book is also featured on
the front of the magazine.

Perhaps back issues can be bought, but I don't have an
address at the moment. If however you do, or have the
original magazine I'd love to hear from you.

Highlander 3 - The Sourcerer
----------------------------
So, how can the forth film be called Highlander 3? Well the
last one, which everyone thought of as Highlander 3 was in
fact lots of bits of the US TV series joined together, which
explains why there were new actors etc... Crankin' Out!

Cranki'n Out!
------------
Some of you may be interested in a David Bowie fanzine with
the name of 'Crankin' Out!' which features an article -
about Queen and Bowie's collaboration on 'Under Pressure'.
(Bowie also appears on a version of 'Cool Cat', though this
is not a commercial release it can be heard on 'The Ultimate
Collection' - maybe available on CD at your local record
fair).

Both artists met first at Trident in 1972, though the
article tells us that Roger asked Bowie to produce them, a
fact (?) which I'd not heard before - confirmation about
this from the fan club (or anyone else) would be welcome.
Anyway it was not to be as Bowie was too busy.

The article 'Our Last Dance' is quite interesting and is
just over 4 pages, printed on A4 size paper. The article
also includes 2 b/w photographs of Freddie and Bowie - one
from 1978 and the other backstage at Live Aid.

The above article is in issue 2 of 'Crankin Out!'.
Prices for a single issue are:

UK - 2.95
Europe - 3.50
USA - 4.00
Elsewhere - 4.24
Eurocheques NOT accepted

A Queen For A Day
-----------------
On November 8th 1994 Helen Hill a QFN reader (and frequent
artist for the newsletter) took part in a photo shoot for
the magazine 'Marie Claire'. She was dressed as Freddie and
the article is to be called 'Transformation' and should be
in the March issue of 'Marie Clair' (available mid
February). So look out for it and send me a photocopy if you
see it won't you please girls! It's not sort of magazine I
usually buy really. Helen traveled home on the train after
the shoot in full Freddie gear and got some odd looks as she
was even carrying a microphone!

Queen Events In Russia
----------------------
Queen Magic in Budapest - This video was shown for the first
time on Russia TV on November 5th 1994 and was not spoiled
with a translation over the interviews.

November 26th - an edition of the popular Russian television
programme 'Music On Air' was dedicated to Queen. Much was
said to prove that Freddie had adopted and blended various
styles and genres to create his own unique style. To
illustrate this they played various Queen songs.
Unfortunately none of them had been written by Freddie, but
other members of the band!

Queen On Queen is the title of a new book recently released
in Moscow. It contains original lyrics to all the album
songs and the Russian translations are to everyone's
surprise not bad at all! The book has an appexdix with
common a discography and explanations for some English
expressions and comments for the songs. However the price is
30,000 roubles, 10 times more than normal for a book of it's
class - a cheap looking paperback on grey paper.
