Primal Scream
Give out but don't give up

If you have heard their second album, Screamadelica, then you might
be expecting another album of dance tunes. You couldn't be more
wrong, this album is very reminiscent of 'Exile on main street' by
the Stones or 'Shake your money maker' The Black Crows. The album
contains mixes by the grandmaster of funk Mr George Clinton, who also
sings a duet with the Screams resident soulstress Denise Johnson.
Like Screamadelica it contains a few instrumentals which are very
reminiscent of Loaded. These instrumentals are in fact the same songs
except that one is mixed by Clinton and the other is mixed Brendan
Lynch. The clinton mix (which is called Funk Jam) is full of horns
(provided by the Andrew Love and Wayne Jackson, collectively know as
the Memphis Horns). Lynch's mix sounds like the Stones jamming with
the Orb! (this mix is called Strutin'). The album is very well
produced and is an essential purchase, complimenting Screamadelica
perfectly.
