The Chumbas used to be a punk band, now they have got hold of a
sampler and have run riot with it. Strange samples, dance beats,
guitars etc. combined with very political and very strange lyrics to
produce a unique album. Here are some of the sane lyrics: They call
me the great pretender, John Noakes was my mentor, I'm a walking
talking ideas man, Here's one I prepared earlier, Stretch Armstrong
and his rubber band, Edwin Meese and the sex police, Please Mr
Postman post-post modern deliver us from Elvis, be-bop-a-lula my
baby-baby good culture yes. Well erm yes, they do get stranger but
this is the only one we could print. With MC Fusion from Credit to
the Nation guesting on a few songs namely Enough is enough and Love,
all this adds up to a varied album which makes you think about life
in the 90's, the rise of fascism, homophobia, abuse, censorship to
name a few. One last word don't let the art work on the front cover
put you off.
