Speedball 2 - Krisalis

The problem with the games scene on the Arc is that it takes so
long for the conversions to be made, but when they do make it across
they are normally the top games from other formats, this game is no
exception. The first Speedball game was one of the best sports games
of all time, combining handball and plain street fighting, so what's
changed? For a start the graphics are 100% better and bigger, the
game play has improved a lot, there is also a management section.
What makes this game stand out is that if you get bored of scoring
goals there are much more interesting ways of gaining points, throw
the ball at any of the stars along the side of the play area and you
get some points, light them all up for a big bonus. The best best
way of scoring points is basically kick the crap out of the opposing
team, you cad do this in a number of ways, (a) Just slide/hit them
(b) Throw the ball at one of two chargers on the side of the play
area, make sure to catch it and now if you throw it at the opposition
they will be electrocuted, do this enough times and they will be
knocked out and will have to be removed from the pitch. But remember
this does work both ways. You can create some very impressive goals,
scoring off the side of the play area, tag teaming the goal keeper
(one player acts as a decoy, while the other player removes the
keeper from the game giving you a chance to score while he is down).
The game has been programmed so that instead of just standing around
other players on the pitch run beside you taking out the opposition
etc. The sound is great with lots of digitised snippits, even the now
famous sample of the ice cream seller! I don't know what I am writing
this for when I could be playing it!

Grading out of ten.
