Heimdall - Krisalis
{fon:tri}

When you first open the box to this game you know that it is going
to be big, the game comes on a hefty five (yes that's five) discs. The
first thing that came into my mind while opening the little plastic
bag which contains the discs is DISC SWAPPING (not owning a Hard
Drive). Inserted the disc and ran the game, watched the intro (no
disc swapping yet). You now get a menu screen allowing you to load a
saved game, play the attributes section or go with random attributes.
I chose to play the attributes section, nice screen fade, bang the
first 'Please insert disc xx' prompt from now on I know that I am
going to spend a lot of time swapping discs. The attributes section
is fun and the graphics are superb, they haven't been touched up much
from the Amiga version. Now a quick disc swap and we are now ready to
embark on our voyage, to recover the weapons of the Gods. You click
on the Island you want to sail to, once on the Island you have the
option to set sail again or explore the Island, disc swap, now I can
see why there are five discs this game is BIG; the graphics are very
detailed and contain many little touches like smouldering fire etc. The
depth the game goes into is mind blowing, its the closest thing on
the Arc to the Bards tale (although they look very different), its
got Spells, Traps and lots of fighting. Although I moaned about the
disc swapping considering the size of the game the swapping is quite
moderate. You will need a pen and paper to play this game, as well
as a lot of time. One of the best RPG's on the Arch, but wait, with
U.S. Gold now in the Acorn market could we see a conversion of the
'Eye of the beholder' collection of games, we can live in hope.

Grading out of ten.
