A step back into the middle-ages
for Computer Concepts?
{fon:tri}

The other day, I was flicking through one of the many PC mags which
my Dad has bought when I came across a familiar name - Computer
Concepts. "What's going on here?" I hear you ask. Well, it appears
as if the Acorn DTP specialists are working on an ultra fast vector
drawing package for Microsoft's new 32bit operating system, Chicago.
Chicago is supposedly a new 'super' operating system to take us into
the 21st century, and is the first step towards Cairo, billed as the
ultimate multi-platfrom OS.

According to the article the new drawing package is going to be
called Camelot, and it is claimed that it will run 20 times faster
than Corel Draw 5! That makes it faster than ArtWorks on an A5000.
The reason for the massive speed increases is due to the techniques
used for screen redraws. CC by-passes those supplied in the
operating system (although they are supposed to be ultra fast, and
perfect for 3D games such as Doom, the major PC release of the year).

Computer Concepts Director, Charles Moir, said that they thought that
they could match, and beat many of the features of their rivals.
Their only worry is the marketing. Obviously Corel, leaders in the
PC vector drawing market, have huge budgets for adverts in all of the
PC mags.

Looking at screen shots of Camelot, it does not resemble Art Works,
and apparently it does not share any common code. It does, however,
seem as though it's going to take the PC world by storm, after all
they are used to very slow clumsy applications.
