GenSister

Personally I think this is quite a high standard for a PD game
visually. It has many similarities with commercial titles and reminds
me of 'Alex Kidd', the platform game, free on ROM with the Master
System both in cartoony style and simple gameplay, though it's not
blatantly obvious what has to be done except jump and grab things and
kill all the baddies to progress to the next level/world. The baddies
are OWLS, LOBSTERS, BEES and EYEBALLS ! Also watch out for
the ELECTRICITY BALLS which sometimes appear if you hit a square
with a yellow logo on - these squares give you either the BALLS
(which is a bonus too) or a plain bonus. These ELECTRICITY
BALLS make Giana's and Maria's hair go frizzy when they come
into contact with them, but don't actually kill them. Nor do they
kill or delay the baddies, which is a pity. However on some of the
early levels I was locked out of the game if killed by a certain
baddie or pressed the middle mouse button at the beginning of the
game by mistake for the 'keyboard' movement and had to Reset my
machine. So use only the middle button when you are in the game.
GenSister was written in 1988 so won't run correctly under some
circumstances. ie RISC OS 3 which is what I ran the game on. It's
also a good idea to turn off the 'cache' when playing GenSister on
ARM 3 machines as it's a little too fast, but still playable, though
requiring more skill.

The absence of music and sound effects is unusual even for a game
of this age, but it doesn't detract too much. An average game with
familiar scenarios.
