out." Kay opened her mouth to reply, then closed it again
as the call was terminated.  She had no choice.


The young technician was busy removing as much grime from
the disc as he dared.  He looked up as someone stuck their
head round the lab door. "Hi Nik.  How's it going?" Kay
enquired glumly. Nik looked up from his work and gave Kay
a fleeting smile.  She looked like she needed it. "As well
as can be expected, I suppose, given the circumstances.  I
heard you were on your way to see . . ." "Yes." she left
it at that.  There was a nervous pause from both parties.
They both knew the likely consequences all too well.
"Well, I won't keep you then." he finally concluded. "No."
He saw her move off from the door frame and drift out of
view.


Roberts settled into a comfortable position in her chair.
Well, not entirely true.  In weightless conditions her
position would certainly look comfortable from her
visitor's point of view.  However, to her it would not be
any more comfortable than standing "upside down" in the
far corner.  Perhaps not more comfortable then, but
certainly more dignified.
