Which Disk?
___________

Choosing a hard disk isn't just down to which make to
buy - you've also got to decide something much more
important - what capacity do you need?

The bottom of the range size will be the often
dismissed 20 megabyte model. This size of disk is often
dismissed - epecially in the PC world, where the average
word proccesor takes about 10 megs! But when you consider
the advantages that a hard disk gives to an Archimedes
user, a 20 meg disk becomes a realistic choice.

Many people buy a hard disk simply for the little perks
you can get out of a hard disk system. If you've only used
a floppy based Archie, you'll have lost count of the times
ou've clicked on a text file, only to have it scroll past
at mach 5. With a hard disk system, you can set up Edit to
load up whenever a text file is clicked on. Its this sort
of thing that doesn't really require a lot of disk
capacity, but is simply damned useful. Setting up a proper
!boot file is another example - you can't really do this
properly on a floppy only system. If you own a VIDC
enhancer but don't have a hard disk, you'll know what I
mean.
