data that said "5 0s, 3 0s then 6 0s". Compaction on the
Archie is a bit more advanced than this, but it should
give you the idea (if you could understand my
explanation!!!). Anyway, you don't really need to
understand any of the theory, but just which packages to
use, so here come the reviews:

ArcFS
_____

As ArcFS is probably the most well known and widely
used compaction utilities, I'm going to start off with a
review of it.

ArcFS is a comprehensive package that has been well
supported with upgrades and improvements, since it was
first released. To compact something with the program, you
simply drag a new archive from the icon bar menu (like
saving a file from a standard Risc OS save box) to a filer
window. You can now click on the archive and it will open
like a standard directory would. The difference is that
any files you now copy into the archive, will be
compacted. The archives act in all respects like a normal
Risc OS filing system, but just take a lot longer than
usual to carry out disk operations.
