with this except that it slows you down during intensive
dektop/hard disk use.

Inside the directories you've just created, you should
ideally have - more directories. The larger your hard
disk, the more directories you'll need to use. The reason
for this is that, if you put say, twenty utilities all in
one directory, the Operating System will take half an hour
reading in all the icon sprites, and loading one program
can really take ten times as long as it really needs to.

Every so often, I find its a good idea to back
everything up onto floppy (although most things should be
backed up all ready!!!) and then dlete eveything off the
hard disk and basically start again. This sounds a bit
drastic, but when everthing is laid out in well organised
directories again, it'll seem worth it.

Due to a late influx of extra material for this issue, I'm
a bit short on space for extra articles, so I've put a
hint from Dr. Doggie on the end of this article. Look out
for more in New Dawn from Dr Doggie, in the near future
(as well as looking out for his excellent disk mag -
Lunchtime).
