Venera
______

Kay floated over to the observation port window, securely
strapping herself into the viewing seat. She had long
since abandoned the notion of 'strapping herself down'.
There was no up or down out of planetary orbit. The small
white disc visible in the bottom left corner of the port
was growing daily now. Features were still for the main
indistinguishable on the disc, at least by the naked eye.
She floated her hand to the nearby table. Moving in
weightlessness was very much like swimming, but was a lot
drier! A light appeared on the table-top.

"U.V. scan please"

The view from the observation port was replaced by a more
distinct image. The disc was now slightly larger, with
distinguishable markings. The ultra-violet scan revealed
detail invisible to the naked eye. The image data was
quite fresh, but the disc appeared too small in size.

"Magnify by 8 please"

The image vanished and was replaced by another, more than
filling the port window.
