   With the amazing quality and variation available in
sound samples, almost everyone in the programming world
relies on them to produce effects in games, music and
demos, and their popularity has led to a wide range of
samples, samplers and sample types. In this article I'm
going to give an introduction to using samples in your own
programs.

   Most sample types come under one of two headings :
Linear or logarithmic. These simply indicate the way that
the sound is stored. Dividing the samples up even further,
reveals the different formats and filetypes available. The
main types are as follows:

Armadeus           d3c        Mainly used with Clares
                                    products.

Raw Sound          ed0        A basic sample type used by
                                the sample player DSEdit.
