Your craft, and those of the enemy, are armed with four types of artillery:
air-to-surface missiles, air-to-air missiles, rockets, and an automatic
machine gun. The AS and AG missiles are identical in design, the difference
being that they will either be fired at a plane or a ground target
repsectively. The missiles are selected by a pressing the backspace key.
This will step through the various weapons. Once selceted, the missiles must
be targeted on an object. This is done by the key <RETURN>. If there is no
target in the vicinity or if your craft is facing the wrong way there will be
no targeting. Once an object has been 'captured' a green square will be shown
on the HUD. If the object goes off the HUD a green line will track it. If the
target is close to your craft then the square will turn red. This indicates
that there is a possibility of the missile missing the object. To fire the
missile press either the <SPACE BAR> on the keyboard or <MENU> on the mouse.
If you wish you can take a missile view by pressing <M> after firing the
missile. The rockets are simply fired by pressing <MENU> on the mouse. They
require no targeting and can be fairly accurate. The rockets are fired in
pairs, so the number of rockets availabale can be considered to be half that
shown on the HUD. The rockets, like the missiles, are powered by their own
fuel. So, if they miss their target they will continue to travel in a
straight line until they reach their target, another surface or until the
fuel ends. The machine can be fired whilst any of the other weapons are
selected. It is fired using <ADJUST> on the mouse. It will continue to fire a
line of bullets until you release the button. Unlike the other two forms of
weapons, the accuracy of this one is entirely dependant on that of the pilot.
This is a criticism that can be voiced against the rockets as well, but it is
made up for by the sheer destructive capabilities of the rocket.
