Introduction
************

Prepare for a white-knuckled ride of tough turns, severe skids and
crunching crashes as you enter the world of "High Risc Racing". The
action's fast, furious and fatal as you race against up to 9 other
competitors, over 40 levels and 20 tracks, to gain the ultimate prize
of Champion.

The season is long and the competition is fierce, can you make it to
the top ? You'll need - all your skill and reflexes as a driver to
side swipe opponents into walls, ruthlessness to destroy cars with
missiles, nerves of steel to overtake on bends & straights, quick
thinking to control turbo boost, hawk eyes to spot short-cuts and
walls that aren't as they seem.

DEMO-VERSION
************

This demo-version of "High Risc Racing" has been severely cut-down
in-order to make it fit onto a single 800K disc. This should still
give a fair indication as to the quality of the full-version.

->      2 levels only
-> Choice of only 2 cars to race
-> Start money level has been artificially raised
-> Start difficulty level has been raised (NOT TO MAX THOUGH)

        that destroy close cars (maximum of 1) behind or to the side
        when fired
-> "Punisher" missiles are also available; which follow a route round
        the track and are guaranteed to hit someone

"High Risc Racing" Machine Requirements
***************************************

->      2MB of memory
-> RISC OS 2.00 or later
->      Floppy or Hard Drive
->      RISC PC compatible

-> Note that the game configurations will vary depending on the speed of
        the ARM processor inside your computer.

-> ARM 2, 250 & 3 users are recommended to choose either Music *OR*
        Sound FX when racing - particularly when the number of cars starts to
        get high.
        The number of cars racing is increased (more than normal) when Music
        *AND* Sound FX are OFF, in the later levels.

-> With regards to the RISC PC configuration:
                -> Sound quality is increased
                -> Easily handles Music *AND* Sound FX ON for any level

Problem Shooting
----------------
We have tried to make "High Risc Racing" as desktop friendly as possible, but,
due to the nature and size of the game, we do not recommend that you run it
with other applications resident - as a precaution.

2MB users should *MANUALLY* lower the following if memory problems occur:
        ->  Font cache
        ->  System sprite area
        ->  RAM disc
        ->  Module area

The Racing Screen
*****************

The racing screen is dominated by the track and playing cars. However, there
are also indicators to display the current state of your car.

Track Name
----------
This bar simply contains text stating the name of the current track.

Chassis
-------
This bar, denoted by C on the actual game screen, shows the current chassis
strength of your car scaled in relation to the maximum chassis strength
available for the best car. If your chassis is completely destroyed during a
race then the game is over.

Tyres
-----
This bar, denoted by T on the actual game screen, shows the current tyre
level of your car scaled in relation to the maximum tyre level available
for the best car. If your tyres are totally ruined during a race then the
game is over.

Fuel
----
This bar, denoted by F on the actual game screen, shows the current fuel level
of your car scaled in relation to the maximum fuel tank size for the best car.
If you run out of fuel during a race then the game is over.

Boost
-----
This bar, denoted by B on the actual game screen, shows the amount of rocket
fuel you have left. If this bar becomes empty you will not be able to turbo-
boost.

HINTS & TIPS
************

        The difficulty level for this demo has been set quite high, and will
probably require a lot of practice before you can reach the second demo level.
With this in mind the following may help:

-> *Brake* when coming up to sharp bends, the levels have been designed
        so that you actually do need to slow down now and again
-> Slam into the backs of cars you are trying to overtake as they try to
        turn corners
-> Make full use of your ability to nudge cars into obstacles
-> Missile the fastest computer car
-> Buy extra speed *AND* extra power steering, they complement each other,
        too high a speed without a sufficient steering ratio leads to chassis
        damage ;.)
-> Use turbo sparingly on straights to overtake only
