                       Alpine Challenge Version History

Ver 1.0 : Started Coding in Febuary 1992 for one week. Started out as a
project to test a new sprite routine that I'd wrote.
Succeeded in getting the scenary to scroll up within a box and
for the skier to move left and right. Coded the jumping routine
but it kept crashing the machine.

May 1992 : Found some time to work on game (2 evenings !). Found out why the
machine was crashing, I hadn't set enough stack memory. Started
            to code the collision detection.

July 92 : Now had some spare time to finish the coding. Finished collision
detection, followed by collision handling. Coded in some basic
rules. Coded the rolling numbers display. Coded a routine to
display horzontal bars at pixel (rather than byte) accuracy.

August 92 : Main game finished. Started coding extras. Wrote pause routine
which shows a frozen ice lolly. Sampled some sounds.
Converted these sounds so that they can be used in a relocatable
module. Altered my code to produce the sounds when neccasary. All
the sounds were created using the OAK Recorder (Cheap but it does
            the job).
Wrote the pixel mutation routine and gave it various options,
not all of which are used by the game. Got Tez to do some grafix
            (because I'm hopeless).
Wrote the basic program that controls the whole game and provides
            the front end.

Sept 92 : Ver 1.0 finished. It looked OK (ish), so decided to improve
grafix a bit. Fixed a small bug that ocassionaly crashed the
            machine.

Sept 92 : Ver 1.1 completed.

Oct 92 : Ver 2.0 finished. Vastly improved sprite print routine which
allowed bigger grafix. This routine had been wrote for another
game (Ace Crusader) that was also being developed. This version now
included the slalom game option which had took about a weeks work to
code into the original game. More grafix were created. A new primary
display screen was drawm which included the skiers helmut.

DEC 92 : Ver 2.1 finished. This dealt with a couple of bugs that had crept
            into Ver 2.0.

April 93 : Ver 2.2 finished. This just cleaned up a couple of annoying
oversights. Firstly the game did not return to the standard
system Font and default BEEP. Also the copyright messages were
            changed to 1993.

July 93 : Decided to convert game so that it would run under the Wimp.
Installed Icon on Icon Bar and used Form Ed to create some
windows. Put a couple of options on main menu to show current
hi scores and to play sounds. This saves the user having to wait
for the 45 second set up time every time they wish to play, as
long as they can spare the 200K memory requirements that is.
This became version 2.3 (The final version, I think !).

Oct 93 : Minor change to one of the sounds, not very interesting really !

July 95 : Decided to release the game (practically 2 years after completion
and over 3 years since starting it !) into the public domain.

Currently : On and off (mostly off) over the last 10 months I have been coding
a Logic Simulator that runs completly under the Wimp. It would have
been finished long ago but other things (such as Work) have been
getting in the way. Maybe it will be finished in a year or so.
