-* About the program*-----------------

This application was written many
milleniums ago, when I was interested
in playing games!

Since it's release, I have written
several demos and a very good PD game
called "Invaders". Get a copy!

This version was released to
The Datastream in November 1992.
The following instructions are taken
directly from the original first
release version:

This application allows you to remove
the sprites from a 'Repton3' game file
and save them in the standard
Archimedes sprite file format, so they
can be edited in !Paint.
It also allows you to put the sprite
files back into a 'Repton3' game after
they have been edited.
Therefore the inbuilt sprite editor
in the Repton 3 game can be by-passed.
I find this useful because !Paint is
so much better and easier to use than
the inbuilt editor.

* TO EXTRACT THE SPRITES *
Drag a 'Repton 3' game file into
the 'Rep3sprs' icon. Click on the icon
with 'menu' and go to the 'Palette'
dialogue box. Here you can select which
screen the palette of the sprites will
be taken from.
Now go to the 'Save sprites'
dialogue box. You can save the sprite
file from here in the normal way.

* TO RETURN THE SPRITES *
First drag the 'Repton 3' game file
that you wish to return the sprites to
onto the 'Rep3sprs' icon.
Then drag the edited sprite file onto
the 'Rep3sprs' icon.
At this point, you may get an error
telling you that one of the sprites
is the wrong height, or in the wrong
mode etc.
If this happens, you will have to
correct the offending sprite.
Now click 'menu' on the icon and go to
the 'Save map' dialogue box. Save the
game file in the normal way.
The program will also give the file
a filetype of &016 and a filer sprite.

If you didn't understand all of that
then just play about with the
application and you will soon
work out how to use it!

-* Updates*---------------------------
If you improve this application in any
way, please return it to me so that I
can consider the improvement for a new
version number, and re-release it.
I won't support versions that I
haven't seen.
