From Tim Powys-Lybbe

The document !AddHichar allows you to gain easy access to the extended
character set for use within impression without remembering the codes.

Imp-Keys2 provides an Impression keystrip.

BackupImp is a short basic program for backing up directories residing
in the !Impression application directory. (you need to create these
first. Remember to hold the SHIFT key down to open an application
directory and that a BASIC program can be loaded by F12 *BASIC <RETURN>
LOAD":0.$.BackupImp". LIST lines 170 230 to see directory names) A
window can be automatically opened as described in the DTP column in
Archive. Line 40 50 60 and PROCyesno can be omitted if you do not need
the printer reset facility. The program can be automatically run at the
end of an impression session by including the line RUN
"<Impression$Dir>.Auto.BackupImp" at the end of the !RUN file and making
sure the program BackupImp is in the Impression Auto directory. The
program also assumes certain directories are present as used by Tim,
though it shoud be easy for you to change these. Though it might be
argued that the RISCOS windows system obviates the need for a program
such as this, it does illustrate some principles which some may find of
use in other situations.

Letter date is a program for automatically generating to-day's date on a
standard letterhead rather than having to go through the menus and use
the facility provided with Impression. The documents directory needs to
be created as described above. Use Impression to create the letter head
with the date Wednesday 31st September 20000. This is simply the date
with the most characters. Save this in the Auto directory within
!Impression as a textfile (use save text story) called LetterBlnk. Put
the program called letterdate also in the Auto directory. Load the !RUN
file in !Impression into !EDIT (Health Warning! always make sure you
have a backup of any original software before making any alterations
such as these!) and insert RUN "<Impression$Dir>.Auto.Letterdate" just
before the line RUN "<Impression$Dir>.!RunImage"%*0. This will run the
program Letterdate just before loading Impression onto the icon bar,
creating a new version of letterblnk in the Document directory but with
the correct date. Now all you need to do whenever you start is drag the
letterblnk text file from the Document directory into an impression
window to get a letter head stamped with the correct date.

You may notice an error message relating to a directory called SlowDocs
if you haven't created the directories as in BackupImp. This is because
Tim, being ultra-organised, also uses a separate directory for documents
with graphics which print slowly. Creating another directory in
!Impression will sort this out.

Again, even if you do not want to organise your work in this way, the
above illustrates how flexible the operating system is for user
customisation of applications. Obey files such as !Run are similar to
batch files in MS-DOS and can be very useful in scheduling programs and
how they run.
