GRAPHIC TEXT CHARACTERS FOR USE IN !DRAW PROGRAMME
For those like me who, for hard copy, rely on a
black and white printer. Probably for many years
to come.

These characters were drawn using the !Draw
programme. They were constucted on a cm. grid with
1/10 intermediate spacing. Generally the control
points and end points of the lines used to make
the characters were locked to the grid. I found
that this made for better symmetry of the letters.

However, not all of the points are locked to the
grid. You must therefore be careful not to snap
these characters to the grid otherwise you will
have some rather bizarre results. The same applies
if you try to snap the characters to a grid of
different size or spacing.

The characters can be resized, filled with
different colour, or no colour, they can be
copied, turned to any angle, amended, deleted. In
short they are most flexible.

Their main advantage is that (certainly on an
Epson LQ ) they will print at any size with little
of the ragged edges that you normally get with
larger text. The printer resolution determines
this and not the screen resolution.

The characters are held on the disc in the
directory GraphChar and will load into draw in the
normal way at A5 Landscape size. If you already
have something on the screen and want to load one
of these files you can either load it over the top
of what is already there or you can increase your
paper size and load it in at the side (or top or
bottom).

Having loaded the file you can then select
individual characters to copy and/or move into
your layout. I would advie you to do some trial
loading and playing about with these before doing
something which matters in order to avoid making a
pigs ear of it.

At first you may find it a little tedious at first
copying and moving the letters but it is less
tedious than editing large text on a sprite editor
and the results are less ragged. Since their main
use (for me) is for graphics work you don't
usually need too many of them anyway.

Enjoy your graphics work.
