                          Creator Demo #3
                          ===============

            1991 Philip Hawthorne/Peter Gillett/Alpine Software

This demo consists of three Creator-produced applications. No
additional coding or programming of any kind has been used - they all
just use the standard Creator facilities. (I tell a lie; I've used a
GOTO (oops!) in !Demo to make it 'roll' back to the start so it can be
left running continuously as dealers like that sort of thing).

I suggest you try the programs in the following order - just
double-click the appropriate icon (press Q to quit any demo):

!Demo - introduces the system and shows off some of the Creator
facilities such as 'waves' of objects following paths,
sound effects, objects bouncing off the edges of the screen,
gravity and a compulsive tune! (Q restarts this demo so hold
down ALT+Q to actually quit ALTogether (bad joke!!)

!Breakout - a Mode 12 brick smashing game with background music: control
the bat with the mouse buttons. Ball will speed up every time
you complete a screen (Sorry all screens are the same: didn't
have time to design any more!)

!Shootem - a Mode 13 sideways scrolling shootemup (well one level of it)
Control your ship by moving the mouse and fire your
rocket by clicking the mouse select button. Press Q to quit and restart or ALT+Q to quit.

All the demo programs run at 50 frames per second (that means they
redraw the entire screen 50 times every second) They can do this
because we wrote our own screen clearing and sprite plotting routines
as we found those in RISC OS are a bit too s..l..o..w.

You are free to copy this disc and give it to your friends, Acorn
Dealers or anyone else who is interested BUT ... it must be copied and
distributed in its entirety, including this ReadMe file. You are
ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, CATEGORICALLY NOT PERMITTED to hack out pieces of
the code, ESPECIALLY NOT the sound module, for your own use. This is
absolutely FORBIDDEN and Alpine Software will take all necessary steps
to deal with anyone infringing our copyright in the programs.

If you want to make your own games/demos/animations....

****** BUY A COPY OF CREATOR!!!! at ONLY 38.95 all inclusive. *******

You will then have the right to sell/copy/distribute games written

WOW! NICE TUNES, RODNEY MY OLD SON
             ==========================================

If I tell you that the special Sound Extension module supplied with
Creator is written by Peter Gillett (of "Nevryon" fame) then you would
be quite right to be impressed! Its a four channel system which
automatically handles both sound effects and music - when an effect is
played it cuts out the music on the appropriate channel, plays the
effect and cuts the music back in. This reduces the demands made on
the processor and should help games run faster.

I assume you have read our leaflet so I won't bore you by repeating
the details in that but you may be interested in some 'latest news'
