General
-------

The DSymPlay application, is merely a wimp front end for the Digital Symphony play module, written due to many requests from various Public Domain Libraries, who now wish to replace their Tracker files with Symphony files; due to the superior play quality and compaction capabilities.

If you are distributing this application in your PD library, please inform us, so that we can supply you with an improved version. (This version was thrown together in just a couple of hours.)

Instructions
------------

Just like Digital Symphony, this application is simplicity itself to use. Double-click on a Symphony file to load it, or drag it to the DSymPlay icon on the iconbar, or to the control window.

The video style controls of the Control Panel, displayed by clicking on the iconbar icon, give you control over the track. The volume can be adjusted by dragging the slider and voices can be muted by toggling a tick or cross, and that really is about it.

Digital Symphony is an 8 channel sound sequencing package based completely
in the Risc Os Desktop environment. Digital Symphony will allow the
inexperienced user to achieve stunning musical results due to it's easy to
use nature, just like the Archimedes itself, but also offers a range of
intricate, sophisticated facilities, making even the most experienced feel
at home.

In the past, Soundtrack editors for the Archimedes have merely imitated
similar packages for such machines as the Amiga. Now, Digital Symphony is
set to change this by offering new features and effects not possible using
packages on any other home computer, or even the Archimedes, before now.

Digital Symphony is the first and only Soundtrack editor to have a
playroutine that will play ProTrackers, or Original SoundTrackers,
absolutely 100% faithful to how they were originally written. Other
soundtrack play routines do not fully implement the effects used by such
packages and therefore are not able to cope with some of the more
sophisticated pieces of music; but this is not the case with Digital
Symphony!

Digital Symphony has a list of some 64 effects, which can be applied to an
instrument, or sample, in conjunction with each other, producing amazing
results limited by the imagination alone and allowing you to produce the
exact effect that you require.

Digital Symphony is, of course, completely midi compatible; notes can be
entered into the track using a keyboard, drum-pack, or any other midi
compatible instrument, via means of a midi interface.

Digital Symphony is the first and only sequencing package to display the
track in standard musical notation form as notes on a stave, in addition
to the usual sequencer pattern lists.

Features of Digital Symphony include:

Maximum 4095 Patterns Maximum 4095 Sequence Positions
Maximum 64 Sampled Instruments 40 totally different effects
Built in Sample Editing Suite Written in Pure Arm code
Fully MIDI Compatible Foreign File Import/Export
Flexible Cut and Paste options Fully Multitasking, with Custom windows
Notes displayed on Musical Stave

Digital Symphony is supplied with:

              Maestro to Digital Symphony Converter.
              OctaMED to Digital Symphony Converter.
Resource discs, crammed with Sound Samples and Symphonies.
              Detailed illustrated Users manual.
PlayModule for use in Games, Demos etc, along with help notes.

Without doubt, Digital Symphony offers the most comprehensive list of
useful features and yet is still cheaper than any other commercial sound track editor for the Archimedes.
