Document with !Filter

!Filter is a small utility that allows you to strip (say "filter") bytes
from files.

To start !Filter, double-click on its icon in a filer-window. When
loaded, !Filter installs itself on the iconbar.

To filter some bytes from a file, drag the icon of that file onto the
!Filter-icon (the one on the iconbar!). !Filter will present you a tiny
window in which you can choose bytes by clicking on the appropriate
icons. Each byte can be marked with either:

  - The 'filter out' flag. Which means the byte will be filtered out.
  - The 'replace' flag. Which means the byte can be replaced by another
    byte.

When you've set the 'replace' flag for a certain byte, you can choose
another byte (which substitutes the first) in the same manner as you
choose the first. (Just have a go with !Filter and you'll see it's all
much easier than it sounds!).

Note that bytes that aren't filtered out or replaced by another byte are
merely 'replaced by themselves'.

When you're ready to filter out the selected bytes, click on the 'GO'
icon! When you want to abort the operation when the !Filter-window is
shown, just click on the window's 'Close' icon!

This program is Public Domain. Copy and share it freely with other Arc
users, but please don't modify the files in the !Filter directory!

Have much fun filtering your files...
