                    !RMA_Man - RMA Manager 1.2
                   -----------------------------

Last updated 28th March 1990

Usage
-----

Invocation of !RMA_Man will install an icon on the icon bar.

Selection of the !RMA_Man icon on the icon bar will display a summary of
RMA storage usage.

More details on RMA Module usage may be obtained by selection of any
icon related to the RMA module in the summary display. This initially
displays a total per module, but selection of the maximise window icon
will display both module and workspace sizes.

A similarly display may be obtained for ROM Modules.

Selecting either of the icons relating to sprites, to display further
details of the wimp sprite pool. Sprites may be selected by either left
or right mouse button and the selection deleted by use of the
centre/middle button.

Note: This display is not automatically updated when the sprite pool
size is changed. The reason for this is that in displaying the
window the space in the sprite pool changes and hence would cause
      a second refresh.

Modules can be removed from the RMA by selecting their title icon and
following the prompt.

Note : Care should be exercised when removing modules as any application
using the module is likely to abend. In particular if the SharedCLibrary
is removed then !RMA_Man will itself abend. Similarly if the FPEmulator
is removed then any C applications which were started after the
FPEmulator was installed will abend.

All storage values are rounded to nearest whole k or tenth of a k.

Values less than 512 will be displayed as 0.0k

All workspace storage calculations assume that the workspace for a
module is in one contiguous area. I believe that this is the norm, but
that it possible for the module to obtain further workspace.

Maximums --------

The module displays are limited to the first 50 Modules in each.

Observations
------------

Having run RMS_Man on my system it is interesting to see where all the
storage goes.

On my system the majority of rma storage for rom modules is down to
ADFS, due I believe to the amount of buffers and directory cache I have
allocated.

It is also interesting to watch the display as directories and windows
are opened.

Open a directory of a well known document processor. Look at the sprite
pool. Mmm looks like there is a price to pay one document per directory
!!!! Also do a spellcheck and inspect the rma modules !!!
