!AMFPortal  1.10 (23-May-92)
============================
Access Limitation
=================
AMFPortal is designed to limit the access allowed to certain directories.It
can be set to automatically load when its directory is opened,and prevent
access until a correct name and password is given.If set up correctly,it
allows five levels of access/non access to that which is hidden within it.
However,by default,it will not automatically load,and will not require any
password for access.

Use
===
Once loaded,initially you will need to setup AMFPortal.Press menu on the
AMFPortal icon,and select Create.A window will open,from which the type of
protection offer may be selected.The first icon,if set,will cause AMFPortal
to be automatically loaded whenever its directory is seen,and when loaded,
will open a window covering all of the desktop,requiring a password.The next
icon,Create access file,determines whether a log file of all the names and
passwords that are entered is created or not.

The next icons determine the directories used by AMFPortal,which must be
explicitly stated.Let us say that the full directory name of AMFPortal is as
follows:
adfs::Portal.$.!AMFPortal

The Close directory is the directory directly above AMFPortal,in which
AMFPortal sits.It is the directory that is closed when AMFPortal is loaded.
In the above case,the close directory is:
adfs::Portal.$

AMFPortal is designed to protect a directory within itself,which may be
called by any name.Definer open stores the full directory name of this
hidden directory,the directory that is open should a high level password be
entered.Let us say that the hidden directory is called Portal.In the above
case,the definer open directory is:
adfs::Portal.$.!AMFPortal.Portal

Observer dir is the full directory name of AMFPortal,which when an observer
password is entered,the current directory is set to this.Thus,in the above
cast,the observer directory is:
adfs::Portal.$.!AMFPortal

Observer open is the last section of the hidden directory name,and it is
prefixed to all files when an observer directory is opened.Everything up to
!AMFPortal is removed from the directory name,leaving only the end of the
full directory name.Thus,in the above case,the observer open directory is:
Portal

The Access file is a file to which all names and passwords are written to.
A full filename must be given for this file.It may be placed within
AMFPortal,or elsewhere so that those with Ammender status may not read the
passwords listed in the file.

Finally,the Title and the Text are displayed when AMFPortal comes into
action.These should contain a suitable message telling the user of the
protection system.Once all has been set up,click on the Create Portal icon,
to create the protection system.The protection system may be demonstrated by
clicking with select on the AMFPortal icon,which has the same effect of
running AMFProtect.

Passwords
=========
Once a protection system has been created,the names and passwords that are
to be accepted must be set.There are five levels of possible access/non
access.A Definer has the authority to create new portals,and to define new
passwords.An Ammender has full access to the hidden directory,refered to by
its full directory name.An Observer has access to the hidden directory,but
with a single word name,to allow read access only,although you can actually
write to the hidden directory,but it doesn't appear as if you can.An Outcast
is prevented from entering with a simple text message,but without further
effects.Finally,a Fugitive is prevented from entering with another message,
and have their machines reconfigured to frighten them off.(their discs and
hard discs are set to zero in number,and their monitor is set to type 3 - a
VGA monitor.On a standard (type 0) monitor,it scrambles the picture).

Initially,only one Definer,with a password and name of Portal is defined,but
more may added by entering the name in the top box,and the password in the
bottom.Press RETURN after each to set them.If you use * in place of a name
or a password,AMFPortal will accept any name,or any password respectively.
To save the passwords,use the Save icon.These will then be loaded whenever
that version of AMFPortal is loaded.

Icons
=====
Those who apply their minds to evil ends might attempt to enter all
AMFPortal systems merely by loading up one system,and then entering all the
others.This may be prevented by loading !AMFPortal.!Sprites into !Paint,and
COPYING (not renaming) the !AMFPortal sprite as a sprite with a different
name,then resaving the sprite file.Rename the !AMFPortal directory,after
setting up AMFPortal accordingly,so that it has the same name as the new
sprite in the sprite file.This will prevent the access of the evil minds.

Versions
========
1.00 Original version.

1.10 Access file may now have a specific filename.This allows a logfile to
     be created without Ammender's being able to read it,and thus determine
     the Definer's password.Doesn't automatically load from a filer window
     unless the protection is on,or the user requests it.
