!AMFCmos  1.00 (23-Jun-92)
==========================
CMOS RAM Editor
===============
AMFCmos is a program that allows the editing of the 240 bytes of CMOS RAM
that every Archimedes has within it.This RAM is battery backed,so that its
contents are preserved after power off/on,making it ideal to store
permanent settings,as well as the current time,etc.

Use
===
Once loaded,click on the AMFCmos icon to reveal a large window containing a
multiplicity of icons.From this window,every byte of the CMOS RAM can be
edited,merely by clicking in the appropriate icon,entering a new value in
hexadecimal,and pressing RETURN or clicking on another icon to set the value
permanently.The use of each byte is shown to the bottom of the window,
together with the current byte (where the caret is located),in both
decimal and hexadecimal.

Pressing menu on the AMFCmos icon will open a menu,from which the Save
option allows the CMOS RAM to be saved in the usual way.A CMOS RAM file has
the Acorn allocated filetype of FF2,and consists merely of the contents of
the CMOS RAM in a file,240 bytes in all.To reload a CMOS RAM file,drag it
back onto the AMFCmos icon.

In the event of CMOS RAM corruption,which is a common and unoriginal trick
for viri to perform,switch off your machine,hold either R or Delete (for a
total reset) down,load AMFCmos (preferably from a floppy disc,since the
above procedure may not recognise any hard discs),and load a previously
saved CMOS RAM file.Once the computer is reset,the CMOS RAM will be returned
to its previously saved values,reinstalling any hard discs,and setting up
the permanent options as before.
