!AMFClock  1.00 (23-Jun-92)
===========================
Clock and Alarm System
======================
AMFClock is a desktop clock and alarm system,allowing the setting of
multiple alarms,the changing of the real time clock,the displaying of the
time in a window or on the icon bar,and a window based timer.

Use
===
Once loaded,press menu on the AMFClock icon on the icon bar.From this menu,
it is possible to access all the facilities in AMFClock.These will be
described in turn.Firstly,move to the Open clock sub menu.From here,you can
open three different clocks,two in windows,and one on the iconbar.The
Iconbar option,naturally,opens a clock on the icon bar,whereas the Clock
option opens a clock in a moveable window.The Timer options opens a window
containing a stopwatch,or timer.Use Start to start the timer,Pause to pause
it,and Reset to reset it,as you would with any timer.Remember,however,that
the timer is updated as frequently as possible,so,should you not be using it,
close its window to save computing time.

The next option down on the main icon bar menu,Set Clock,naturally allows
you to set the internal real time clock.Enter the current time in the boxes
provided,and click on OK to set the time,or Cancel to cancel the change in
time.It is wise to add a few seconds onto the time you are to set,so that
you will have time to click on OK,for as soon as you click on OK,the current
time is set to the time given in the Set clock window.

Alarms
======
From the Alarm option of the main icon bar menu,select Create.A window will
appear,allowing you to define the nature of the alarm.The top five icons are
for the time at which the alarm will go off,the next three icons are for any
message that should be given at that time.Should the Urgent icon be selected,
the alarm is classed as urgent,and when it goes off,the mouse is bound to
the alarm window until the alarm is dealt with.Finally,should the Repeating
icon be selected,the alarm will repeat after the given time.Select OK to
set the alarm,or Cancel to cancel it.

When the alarm goes off,a gong will sound,and the alarm's message will
appear within a window.Should the alarm be urgent,the mouse pointer will be
bound within this window,otherwise,you are free to ignore the alarm for a
while.There are three ways in which the alarm can be dealt with.It can be
Accepted,which if it is a non repeating alarm will clear the alarm,and if it
is a repeating alarm,will allow it to repeat after the allotted time span.It
can be Cleared,which will clear the alarm regardless of whether it should
repeat or not.It can be Deferred,and by moving the scroll bar of the Alarm
window down,you can set the time span for which it will be deferred by.In
any case,the window will close,and you can continue in the desktop.

Selecting Edit from the Alarm menu will allow you to edit a preset alarm.Use
the and icons to select which alarm you wish to edit,then,either edit
the alarm,and select Set to reset the alarm,or select Clear to remove that
alarm.

Finally,selecting Clear from the Alarm menu will allow you to clear all the
alarms,although confirmation is required for this drastic measure.

Preferences
===========
Selecting Preferences from the AMFClock menu will open a window,allowing you
to set the operation of AMFClock.You can define which windows open when
AMFClock is first loaded,and whether AMFClock will sound its gong with a
normal,and an urgent,alarm.If Automatically save alarms is set,all alarm
data will be automatically saved every time it is updated,otherwise,you must
do this manually using the option Alarms.Save.Switching this option off is
particularly useful for floppy disc users as it means that you do not have
to keep swapping discs,but be warned,when AMFClock closes down,so do all
your unsaved alarms.

Click on OK to set the options temporarily,Save to save them to disc,and
Cancel to revert to the previous options.

Configuration
=============
Should you be slightly adept at programming,and wish to change the gong
sound effect,examine the file <AMFClock$Dir>.!Run which contains information
on how to change the sound effects used.It is to be realised that when
AMFClock sounds its gong,it removes all other sound voices (for example,
Tracker music),sounds its gong,waits until the alarm is accepted,cleared or
deferred,and then restarts the other sound voices.Should you alter this,
beware the anti-virus checking!
