The AMF the Doomwatcher Software Collection Version 1.04 (20-Feb-93)
=============================================================================
The complete AMFSoft Software List
==================================
The AMFSoft application contains a complete list of all the supported
software that was written by [AMF the Doomwatcher], listing the current
version number, date of creation, and purpose of each piece of software.

The instructions for this version of the [AMFSoft Software List] are stored
within an [Interactive Help System], which, unlike a normal text file,
contains certain hightlighted words (in [red]), which may be clicked upon to
open a window containing more information. Clicking with select will leave
the original window open, which is useful should you wish to go back to a
window, whereas clicking with adjust will close the original window, leaving
the desktop free from clutter.

Interactive Help System
=============================================================================
The Interactive Help System used to display these instructions is based on
that used by AMFHelp, to be found as part of the AMF the Doomwatcher
Collection Part II. Use of this system is simple, clicking on a word in [red]
will display more information on that word. Using select will merely open a
new window, whereas using adjust will close the original window. Should the
windows become too much for you, press menu on any one of them, and select
Close,to close the lot. Alternatively, click on the icon bar icon to reopen
the initial [introduction] window.

The AMF the Doomwatcher Software Collection Version 1.04 (20-Feb-93)
=============================================================================
The following is a complete list of all the currently [supported software]
that was written by [AMF the Doomwatcher], listing the current [version number],
[date of creation], and purpose of each piece of software. Other software may
bear the authors name, but should it not appear on the list below, it is
either not public domain software, or it is obsolete, and thus is no longer
supported.

The author, namely, [AMF the Doomwatcher] (A.M.Flintham) retains copyright ()
over all the software described beneath. No guarantees are made as to the
status, suitability or quality of this software, nor can any liability be
accepted by the author for any loss or damage arising from use or misuse of
any of the software listed below, or of any other software that bears the
authors name. Distribution clauses for individual software items are to be
found in the instructions for that piece of software, although should such
distribution clauses be lacking in the original master copy of the software,
being that copy of the software owned by the author, the distribution of
that software is limited by the clauses as defined under [distribution].

The software is listed in groups, with space between each group. One group
defines one discs worth of software, or one distinct software collection.
Any symbols to the far left of the software entry should be noted, for these
refer to separate readable comments, that may be selected as usual.

{*} Limited Distribution
=============================================================================
Limited Distribution
=============================================================================
Those items that are marked with a * in the [AMFSoft Software List] have extra
distribution clauses, differing from those listed under [distribution]. Such
items may not be distributed as Public Domain software, save by those
distributors who have received an official distribution license from the
author, [AMF the Doomwatcher]. Certain versions of these items are marked "For
personal use only", and should be used only by the person or persons named
within the distribution license. Full distribution clauses are included
within the instructions of such items, together with the address of the
official distributor for that version.

{.} Limited Update
=============================================================================
Limited Update
=============================================================================
Those items that are marked with a . in the [AMFSoft Software List] are items
that, though having a [date of creation] that is comparable to the rest of
the items, were originally written some time before these items, and only
been slightly updated for the last version. Such items, whilst still of a
high standard, are not of the same construction as later items, as they
belong to a different age. Full information as to the original date of
creation is included within the instructions of such items, so that the true
age of the item may be seen.

{supported software} Supported Software
=============================================================================
Supported Software
=============================================================================
The [AMFSoft Software List] lists all the current supported software that was
written by the author, [AMF the Doomwatcher]. However, there is some software
that was written by the author that does not appear on the AMFSoft Software
List. Such software was written some time ago, and due to the passage of
time, which has an effect on all things, has become obsolete. Software that
does not appear on the AMFSoft Software List is thus unsupported, whereas
software that does appear on this list is supported. No alterations will be
made to unsupported software, and such software should not be distributed.
Certain Public Domain libraries were, at time of writing, continuing to
distribute unsupported software, although this is not condoned by the
author. The presence of unsupported software within a catalogue demonstrates
that that library is not one that the author approves of, for all libraries
that are approved of have received the complete collection of currently
supported software.

{distribution} Distribution
=============================================================================
Distribution
=============================================================================
Most items within the [AMFSoft Software List] contain distribution clauses
within the instructions provided with that item. For these items,
distribution may only occur should the distribution clauses for that item be
met. Such items, marked with a [*] on the [AMFSoft Software List], may not be
distributed as Public Domain software, save by those distributors who have
received an official distribution license, duplicated within the
instructions of that item, from the author, [AMF the Doomwatcher].

However, there are some items within the [AMFSoft Software List] that do not
contain specific distribution clauses within the instructions provided for
that item. For these items, distribution may only occur should the following
distribution clauses for that item be met. These distribution clauses are as
follows:

1) That the item is not distributed for a profit, and that any fees charged
   are only those required to cover media costs, postage, advertising and
   authors fees.

2) That no part of the item is used within a commercial product, or supplied
   along with a commercial product, without the prior written consent of the
   author, [AMF the Doomwatcher].

3) That no part of the item is used within a Public Domain product without
   the author, [AMF the Doomwatcher], being acknowledged within the
   instructions of that product.

4) That no part of the item is used within any product, should that part of
   the item be marked as being not for that use, without the prior written
   consent of the author, [AMF the Doomwatcher].

5) That no additional files are added within an item, nor are any files
   supplied removed, save for the personal use of the owner. Additional
   files may be supplied separately of the item, so long as it is made clear
   that the additional items are not part of the original item.

6) That no files within an item are modified in any way, whether the ends
   are those that are good, or those that are evil. Any alterations to a
   distribution copy of an item must be made by the author, although an
   owner of an item may make changes for their own personal use, so long as
   the modified copy is not distributed in any way.

7) That the author, [AMF the Doomwatcher] is acknowledged to be the true
   author of that item, and no other claims are made to the authorship of
   the item, save those parts of the item are written by others than the
   author, in which case, full information will be given within the
   instructions for that item.

{version number} Versions
=============================================================================
Versions
=============================================================================
Each item has a version number, usually shown at the top of the items
instructions, and in the Info window of the item, should the item be an
application. This version number, together with the date of the last update,
should be examined to determine which of two item versions is the most
modern. Clearly, the item with the greater version number is superior to
others, probably containing extra features, or having errors removed from
it. Should you become aware of an updated version of an item, consider the
difference in version numbers, so that you can decide when you need to
upgrade. Many of the items are in a process of continual enhancement, and it
is wise to upgrade from time to time, as earlier versions of items soon
become obsolete.

{date of creation} Date of Creation
=============================================================================
Date of Creation
=============================================================================
Each item has a date of creation, usually shown at the top of an items
instructions, and in the Info window of the item, should the item be an
application. This shows the date on which that version of the item was
created. Due to the threat from viruses, malignant hackers, and the like,
it is wise to check that the files you have have the same date of creation
as they should.

Press SHIFT, and double click on an application. Instead of loading, it will
open up, and you will be able to see its contents. Press menu on this new
directory window, and select Display.Full Info. You will now be able to see
the datestamp of each file. Compare this with the date of creation for the
authorised, [AMFSoft Software List] version. Should the two dates match, or
should your version have an earlier date, your copy is free from any
alteration. If not, do not use that copy, but acquire an authorised version.

Many applications contain automatic virus checking code, which, when the
application is loaded, will scan through the applications files, checking to
see if anything has been altered. If this is the case, you will be warned,
and advised of what to do.

{red} Red
=============================================================================

=============================================================================
