!AMFMerge  1.20 (20-Jun-92)
===========================
AMFBase Mail Merger
===================
AMFMerge is designed to take an AMFBase database file and a specially
prepared text file,and then to create another text file,containing as many
copies of the original text file as there were records in the AMFBase file,
with each copy being individually altered,depending on the data stored in
the AMFBase file.

Use
===
Before loading AMFMerge,be sure that you have an AMFBase file to merge,
together with a text file,prepared in the following manner.When you wish to
include an AMFBase record (from 1 to 10) within the merged file,include the
code M0 (for record 1) to M9 (record 10).The character may be easily
entered from the keyboard by holding down Alter and typing 255 on the
numerical keypad.

Whenever AMFMerge finds a M sequence,it will replace it with the record
data for the card being merged.For example,let us say that the names of
people were stored in record 1,and a letter was required that addressed them
as "Dear Mr Solemnis", followed by "Dear Mr Logos",etc,where Mr Solemnis and
Mr Logos were names in the AMFBase file.

For this,the following would be entered:

Dear M0,

M0 stands for record 1.When AMFMerge finds this,it will be replaced with
the name data.Another example.Say the address was in records 2 to 5.This
could be written as:

M1
M2
M3
M4

Dear M0,
         This is an example letter to demonstrate the abilities of AMFMerge.

Yours faithfully,

AMF the Doomwatcher.

Now,load AMFMerge,and click on the AMFMerge icon.A window will appear,into
which you should drag your AMFBase file and your text file.A third icon,an
AMFMerge icon should be dragged out of the window into a directory display,
to determine where the merged file will be created.When ready,click on
Create.

Whilst merging,the details of each record are shown within the AMFMerge
window.To speed the process up,deselect Display,and each record will not be
shown.To stop the merging,click on Abort.

The resulting text file can be splitup if need be,or if the spacing is
correct,printed in one go,using AMFPrint.The M sequence is compatible
with the AMF Printer Standard (APS),so other AMFPrint codes can also be
included in merged files.See the AMFPrint instructions for more details.
