!AMFKeys  1.30 (20-Jun-92)
==========================
Key Interpreter
===============
AMFKeys is designed to allow the use of the function keys within the desktop,
so that pressing such a key would enter a definition into the input string,
as would happen outside the desktop,using the *Key command.

Use
===
Once loaded,click on the AMFKeys icon,to open a window containing a
multiplicity of icons.For each of the function keys,f0 (named Print) to f12,
there are four writable icons,namely Alone,Shift,Ctrl,and Ctrl Shift.
Entering a string into one of these writable icons will cause that string to
be entered into the input string,where the desktop caret is,perhaps an Edit
window,or a Save window,should the appropriate key sequence be pressed.
Alternatively,should the string begin with a "*",the appropriate OSCLI
command will be executed.

The key definitions can be saved in the usual way from the icon bar menu.By
selecting Preferences from this menu,and entering a filename into the
Preferences window,this file will automatically be loaded on start up.It is
wise to make all such filenames relative,for example <AMFKeys$Dir>.AMFKeys,
the file that used on startup.

On certain word processors,notably Edit and Impression,only the Ctrl Shift
keys will have any effect,as these programs choose to use some of the hot
keys for their own purposes.

It is necessary to press RETURN,or to click on another writable icon,for the
original writable icons contents to be remembered.Basically,if the caret is
in a writable icon,and you attempt to use that icon,it will use the old
value.If in doubt,close the main window,and reopen it.
