!AMFFont  1.20 (20-Jun-92)
==========================
BBC Font Editor
===============
AMFFont is a program that will allow you to edit BBC Fonts,eight by eight
pixel bitmap fonts that are used to display the system font in windows,etc.
New fonts may be created,saved and loaded again,in a standard format that
can be used by all programs.

Use
===
Once loaded,click on the AMFFont icon to open to windows,both titled
Characters.It is in these windows that editing will take place.Initially,one
window shows the font at normal size,and the other shows the font at a
magnification of four times,to facilitiate easy editing.By pressing menu on
either of the windows,and using the zoom option,the magnification of each
window may be altered in the usual way.

Within each window,every character from 32 (space) to 255 () is shown,and
if a magnification of 4:1 or greater is selected,each character will be
boxed and numbers.Clicking on a pixel with select will set that pixel (turn
it black),whereas clicking on a pixel with adjust will unset that pixel (and
turn it white).

Pressing menu on either of the Characters window will allow you to save the
font,with the start and end characters (inclusive) being also defined in the
window.Usually,you should save characters 32 to 126, to save all the
alphabet,numbers,and punctuation symbols,but none of the extra symbols that
vary depending on the computer.Character 127 is used for delete,it thus
cannot be altered,nor can it be saved.Should you define a range containing
it,it will be skipped over.

Also from this menu,you can alter the magnification of each window (above),
redraw the entire screen so that you can view the effect of any updates,or
reset the font to the initial one.Note that characters 128-255 are not reset
using this option,although you can reset the desktop arrow icons by pressing
f12 (to exit the desktop) then RETURN (to re-enter it).

To load a presaved font,either drag it to the AMFFont icon,or double click
on it,which has the advantage of loading the font without AMFFont being
loaded.
