Quick Format
by Matt Browne

Quick Format is a utility to wipe a disc's contents virtually instantaneously
(discs must contain data and have previously been formatted).

Quick Format follows normal RISC OS conventions for ease of use, and is
written in ARM Assembler, using DoggySofts WimpExtension module.

When you load Quick Format it will place as many icons on the icon bar as you
have floppy drives, i.e. with two drives it will provide Form:0 and Form:1.
Clicking Select or Adjust will make the "Format" window appear (more later).

If you have more than one floppy drive and want to reduce the number of icons
to one that simply says Format, select Squash icons from the main icon bar
menu (with only one drive this option is greyed out).

If you have more than one drive and want to remove some of Quick Format's
icons from your icon bar, choose Quit from the main menu. This will delete
the icon. Moving your pointer across the Quit and choosing All deletes all
the icons and closes Quick Format. Note that if Quick Format only has ONE
icon on the icon bar, the Quit sub-menu will not be there; if you now select
Quit, Quick Format will close down.

With squashed icons, clicking Select over the Format icon, will ask which
drive to format, and will open the Format window.

Another way to open the Format window is to choose which drive you would like
to format from the Format option in the menu.

(Note:- clicking on the Format menu item has the same effect as it would if
you had squashed the icons and then clicked Select on the single icon)

Finally clicking on Quick Format completes the task.

Click on OK to close the window.

This program will work better from a hard drive, as there is plenty of
swapping of discs otherwise - RISC OS 3 and 2Mb of RAM are essential.
