Archived programs
-----------------
For reasons of disc space, some of the applications on this disc have been
archived. A copy of the read-only version of ArcFS is included inside the
!!RiscUser application directory. This enables the applications to be run
directly from the RISC User disc if required. However, it is preferable to
de-archive the programs and move them to your hard disc before running them.
To do this, open the application directory. If the application is archived,
you will see an archive file which has the same name as the application
without the initial exclamation mark. Double-click on this to open the
archive, and you should then see a further copy of the complete application.
Simply drag this to the required destination.

Disc space is always at a premium, and where we run out of space we may use
an alternative compression program which achieves a better compression ratio.
This is based upon Squash, and as such is fully accessible to all users of
RISC OS 3.1 or later. If you have RISC OS 2 we regret we can no longer
guarantee compatibility with your system, and would recommend upgrading to
RISC OS 3.1. Additionally, we recommend a minimum of 2Mb of RAM for all
users.

To save space we have now removed the old disc menu. All future discs will
still contain full documentation.

Conventions used
----------------
We shall only refer to the mouse buttons by their official Acorn names, hence
it is important that you are aware 'Select' refers to the left mouse button,
'Menu' the middle mouse button and 'Adjust' the right mouse button.

Running an application
----------------------
Applications may be run by double-clicking on their icon in the directory
display using Select. Note that if you click with Adjust, the viewer will be
closed prior to running the application.

Help may also be obtained at any time by clicking Menu over an application's
icon in the directory viewer, and choosing the Help option from the App. xxxx
submenu. This will result in the help text being loaded into whichever your
preferred text editor is - for hard disc machines - or Edit.

The entire disc may be copied to another disc, a hard disc or a network by
simply dragging all of the applications (including this one) to the relevant
directory viewer. But such copying must be for the sole use of the purchaser.

Application directories can be entered by holding down Shift while clicking
on a program icon.
