Karaoke - part 1

We live in an age of people who like going down the pub for a quick drink... and perhaps make a fool of themselves occasionally! Harsh though this may be, it's true: just look at the popularity of the Karaoke concept across the world.

Over the next couple of discs, this application shall develop from its current state - where it plays, in quasi acurate time, some words to be sung to the song of Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply - into an application which will automatically play the compact disc for you if it's in the CD-ROM drive.

This application is being designed particularly to introduce concepts of Basic to new programmers: hence all source code is supplied, and no assembler or C is being used.

In a couple of months, the RISC User disc shall contain a multi-tasking application, demonstrating how to use fonts within the desktop; and we may conclude the Karaoke application to include features for automatically starting the compact disc when the words start.
