Brew Your Own Java

by Peter Naulls

Requires a Java Virtual Machine

The files contained in this directory are examples of the Java programming language, and accompany the Brew Your Own Java article in the magazine.

Running the application from the RISC User menu system opens a directory containing the files. In order to make use of the files, you will need a Java Virtual Machine such as Acorn's RISCaf or Peter Naulls' Chockcino. Alternatively, you can use the files on another platform for which a JVM is available.

This month, our series covers using Java for developing flashy applets to be placed into your web page. Our example? A classic scrolling demo, of course.

With the RISC OS limitation on number of characters in a filename, the filenames have been truncated. If you have a copy of RaFS, LongFiles or SparkFS - or a similar program which allows long filenames - then the full filenames are:

Scrolly/class
Scrolly/html
Scrolly/java

If we have space on next months disc, we may include LongFiles for the benefit of readers following this series.
