ShowSound - Displays sound as a changing texture

by Jonathan Hunt

ShowSound provides a simple but interesting sound and graphical demo. Working best with four channel music files, ShowSound displays the sound data as a moving and changing textured pattern - one for each channel.

Using ShowSound
To run ShowSound, double-click on its icon in the Filer window or click on its icon in the RISC User Menu System. Once installed, clicking on its icon bar icon will open the main ShowSound window.

The display consists of four pairs of boxes which represent the first four sound channels. The boxes on the bottom row show the sound data as a waveform. The boxes on the top row show the sound data as a moving textured pattern. ShowSound is designed to work best with four channel music, although it will work with any number of channels. If you are using fewer than four channels, the waveforms will be slightly smaller. If you are using eight channels, the first four and the last four will be combined.

Click Menu to return to the Desktop. Click any other button to pause the display.
