AudioFS 2 - Filing system for Audio CDs

by Jonathan Hunt

AudioFS 2 is a filing system for audio CDs. It enables you to open Filer windows for audio CDs, with each track on the CD being represented by a separate file. These files can be dragged to your hard drive for later playback (non-copyright material only) or dragged to a sample playback utility, for example SoundCon or Player.

Using AudioFS 2
To run AudioFS 2, double-click on its icon in the Filer window or click on its icon in the RISC User Menu System. Once loaded, the application's icon will appear on the left-hand side of the icon bar, and clicking on it with Select will open a Filer window for the CD currently in the drive. Each track of the CD will be represented by a file, which can be treated just like any other sample. The files are raw signed linear, 16 bit, stereo data and should be played back at 44100Hz. You can perform all the usual Filer operations - for example dragging a file to an application, or 'Sort by Size'.

Note
AudioFS 2 only works with versions of CDFS and CD-ROM drives that support the use of the CD_ReadAudio SWI.
