Domain - Internet address locator

by Craig Beech

Domain is a useful utility for finding appropriate internet handles for the
DNS domains. In other words it will tell you from which country or organisation an Internet address comes. It derives this information from the last few letters of the Internet address. For example, .uk refers to the United Kingdom, while .com generally refers to the United States.

Using Domain
Domain is very easy to use. Just load the application, click on its icon on the icon bar to open the main window, and select either Top-level domain area or Top-level domain handle, depending on whether you want to find the two letter code for a country, or the country's name from the two letter code.

Click Menu anywhere in the main window to show the Domain menu. This allows you to save the list of matched entries as a text file for printing or exporting to a DTP package or word processor. The Clear entry removes all items in the list.

Altering the listings
Feel free to edit the data list that Domain uses, although please send any major
updates to RISC User. To access the data list, hold down Shift and double-click on the Domain icon. You will find two text files called 1 and 2 which can be loaded into any text editor for editing.
