Mines 1.00 - Ovation Pro Mine Hunt Applet

By Daniel Barron

Just to prove that Ovation Pro isn't only for desktop publishing, and to throw down the gauntlet to other Ovation Pro applet writers, Daniel Barron has implemented a version of the classic Mine Hunt game as an Ovation Pro applet. The object of the game is to locate all the mines in a minefield without accidentally stepping on one. The game will, of course, only work with Ovation Pro (2.42 and later) - an excellent reason to purchase Ovation Pro.

When you take a step (click on a square) on the mine field, one of three things may happen:

1. You step on a mine (a # symbol) and the game ends.

2. You step on a square with 1 or more mines next to it. If this happens the square will change to the number representing the number of mines directly touching this square. A maximum of 8 mines can be touching a square at any time.

3. You put it on a square with no mine and no mines next to it. If this happens the game searches for other squares next to this one.

When you have used logic to work out where a mine is you can click on F/F to go to Flag mode (as opposed to Foot mode) and then click on the square. A flag is represented by an @ symbol. After putting any flags down you can go back to Foot mode by clicking on F/F again.

To work out the logic just experiment. To restart the game click on Restart. Interactive help is supported. To win, put flags on all the mines and make sure no squares are marked with a * symbol. * means unknown.

Installing Applets

In order to use this Applet, it must be copied into the OvnPro.Applets directory. Ovation Pro must then be re-run.

Applets may be enabled/disabled by double-clicking on them. When disabled, an Applet's name is suffixed with a '-'.

Ovation Pro must be re-run after enabling/disabling any Applets.
