  MenuBar - Quick Reference - Version 1.02 (31 March 1997)
(for more information see Help file or User Guide)
  ============================================================

 (1) Objects (directories, applications or files)
 ------------------------------------------------

Add: Drag from Filer, individually or as selection.

Select: Click select to select, or adjust to select/deselect extra
objects. Or use drag with select or adjust on the background (left
edge of object name) to select/deselect a group of objects. Multiple
objects may be selected or cleared by using the menu.

Remove: Menu on object or selection and choose 'Remove'.

Move: To move an object within a Menu drag the source object and
drop it on the destination object.

Execute: As Filer. Double-click select to open directories and run
files or applications. To open an application directory, hold down
shift and double-click select. Double-clicking with adjust closes
the Menu afterwards. An object or a selection may be dragged to the
Filer, an Application, the Pinboard, the Icon bar or another Menu.
Shift-dragging removes the object from the Menu after the drag (but
never deletes the source). Adjust-dragging closes the Menu after
the drag.

Information: Menu on object and slide off 'Pathname' or 'Info'.

Find: Slide off 'All menus - Find leaf' or 'All menus - Find path'
and enter search string (case is ignored). Any objects containing
the string are highlighted.

Not found: If, having placed an object in a Menu, you move, delete
or rename it in the Filer, MenuBar will be unable to find it. and
the drag icon will be replaced by a red cross. Executing such an
object produces a warning buzz.

Open Filer: To open the Filer window of the directory containing a
Menu object choose '<Object>-Open Filer'.

Launch Applications and load data file simultaneously: To load a
file into a specific application Alt-drag a suitable file to an
Application on a Menu. The file may be dragged from another Menu or
from the Filer.

 (2) Menus
 ---------

Add: Choose 'All Menus - Add Menu'.

Name: Choose 'Menu-Name' to edit the existing name.

Remove: Choose 'Remove' from the appropriate menu. It is not
possible to remove the last Menu.

Move: Alt-drag the source Menu handle to the destination Menu. If
the handle is hidden, you can drag the Menu by placing the pointer
close to the its right-hand edge.

Open/Close/Front/Back: Use main menu for whole Menu bar or one
Menu. Ctrl-Select on any handle brings bar to front; Ctrl-adjust
sends to back. A single Menu may be opened by double-clicking
select on its 'handle', or closed by double-clicking adjust. Or
drag the handle. If the handle is hidden, you can drag the Menu by
placing the pointer close to its the right-hand edge. A quick way
to send the Bar to the back if it is obscuring a window's title bar
is to click menu with the pointer at the very top of the screen.

Save: Choose 'All menus-Save as data'. To save a readable text
file choose 'All menus-Save as text'. Both files are saved in the
Application directory.

Sort: Sort all or one Menu by name or type by making the
appropriate choice from the menu. Sorting by name is alphabetical
and sorting by type is in the order directories-applications-files.
You can set an option to cause automatic sorting whenever an object
is added. Or you can move objects wherever you wish.

*IconSprites: If your Menus include applications which have not
been 'seen' by the Filer, the generic 'Application' icon will be
shown. Choosing *IconSprites from the menu causes the Boot files of
applications to be run, thus displaying the correct icon. This may
be done for all Menus or just one. You can set an option to cause
this to be done when MenuBar is launched.

 (3) Choices
 -----------

'Choices' is available from the lower section of the MenuBar menu
and allows you to configure automatic *IconSprites and/or sorting.
Click on Set to give immediate effect and Save to keep the settings
for next time.

 (4) Mode change
 ---------------

If you change mode, MenuBar automatically positions the Menus at the
centre top of the screen. If they will not fit side-by-side they
are 'telescoped'. Clicking select on a Menu brings it to the front,
and choosing 'All Menus-Front' tidies the Menu bar.
