Bristol - Patience card game

by Alan Stout

Bristol is yet another version of the popular card game Patience. The object of Bristol is to build up 4 ascending sequences of cards, Ace through King, regardless of suit or colour.

The rules
24 cards are dealt, face up, in 8 depots, with each consisting of 3 cards. Any Kings that turn up in the deal are placed at the bottom of their respective depots. Cards are then dealt from the remainder of the pack onto the 3 waste heaps.

The top cards of the 8 depots and 3 waste heaps are available for play, but only one card may be moved at a time - either to a foundation or in descending sequence, regardless of suit or colour, onto the exposed card of another depot.

The stock is dealt 3 cards at a time, one card to each of the 3 waste heaps (apart from the last card which will be exposed on the stock and can be played from there).

Spaces on the waste heaps are filled only in the deal. Spaces in the tableau (caused by the removal of an entire depot) remain unfilled. Only one deal is allowed.

How to play
Use the mouse to drag and drop the cards to their correct positions. If you click with Adjust on an exposed card, the program will automatically attempt to place it on the correct target foundation. Clicking with Adjust on an exposed Ace will relocate it to the first available empty foundation space.

You are permitted to undo your last move when you consider a better alternative is available, but you cannot retrace your steps any further than that.

If the program detects that the game can be completed successfully, it will take over from the player and transfer the cards to the foundations automatically.

If you do complete a game, click Select on the card table to receive your prize.
