                  Suitable for use with Acorn Pocket Book II
                               A-Link required

--> Introduction

Unfortunately, when Acorn were redesigning the Psion Series 3a for the
education market, they decided to take out its useful password protection
feature. This meant that Pocket Book II users were denied the ability to stop
unauthorised users from reading (and potentially destroying or altering)
their files.

Password is an application that solves this problem. It provides a simple but
effective way of protecting your Acorn Pocket Book II machine from unwanted
users. When it is active, the user is asked to enter a password whenever the
Pocket Book is switched on. The password is (of course) user-definable.

For installation instructions please read the Installing file in the Docs
directory.

--> Using Password

When you start Password for the first time you will be asked to type in the
password you want to use (twice, for confirmation). Use the arrow keys to
choose each writable field and press Enter when you have finished. Whatever
you type will appear as a padlock symbol on the screen, to protect yourself
from anyone looking over your shoulder! A password is treated in a case
insensitive manner. It can be up to eight characters long and can consist of
any alphabetic letter, numeral or punctuation character.

Whenever the application is started normally (or after you have entered your
password for the first time) you will be presented with a screen asking
whether you want to activate the password system or change the password. If
the password system is already active pressing Enter will deactivate it.
Press Esc to leave this screen and go back to the Desktop without changing
anything.

When the password system is active the user will be prompted to enter the
password whenever the Pocket Book is switched on. The user has three chances
to enter it correctly before the machine switches itself off! Note that there
is no way to get past entering the password without using the hidden Reset
button on the Pocket Book - see your User Guide for more information about
this.

If you want to deactivate the password system so you dont have to enter your
password whenever you switch your Pocket Book on, enter the Password
application and press Enter.

NB: MAKE SURE you dont forget your password! If you do, you will have to
    press the Reset button on your Pocket Book to be able to use it again!
