Save Check

by Matt Browne

This program is designed for RISC OS 3.1 or later.

Save Check is a utility that checks to see if all the documents on your desktop have been saved. It's very useful if you have a clutter of windows on your desktop and you want to totally reorganise everything without having to restart your machine.

When the Save Check application has been loaded, pressing <Ctrl-Shift-F11> on the keyboard will prompt every application on your desktop to check for any unsaved documents. They will then present messages like the ones you would get if you had chosen the Shutdown option from the Task Manager, or had pressed <Ctrl-Shift-F12>. However, the computer will not be shut down afterwards!

If an application mentions that it is about to quit (e.g. "You have unsaved documents. Do you really want to quit?"), ignore it; it probably won't be leaving you at all! If you press <Ctrl-Shift-F11> and nothing happens, you don't have any unsaved documents.

Save Check is written in 100% ARM Assembler for maximum speed and efficiency.

Using Save Check
Double-click on the !SaveCheck icon in the normal way to run the application. An icon will not be added to the icon bar; Save Check will become a module task (and is listed in the Module tasks section of the Task Display).

You can remove Save Check from your machine by clicking with Menu over Save Check in the Task Display and choosing Quit, or by going to the command line and entering *RMKill SaveCheck.
